    • the yoke bolt on Mack rears torques to 550 lbft
    • My point is still to focus on what is likely to shut you down, oil on brake cans isn't (unless the inspector is a real dick) Oil soaking brake shoes will.  Air lines on the verge of failure will also get you shut down in an inspection even if they don't fail on the road and shut you down. So why if it only runs 150 miles in a week, can't you address some of these looming problems?  There is a lot of oil in a differential, part of the reason there is more than needed for lube is to cool.  A qt or two low isn't going to kill it.  If it were I, I would pay a shop to do the pinion seal (as other have recommended) and use my time to address the other issues. While a torque multiplier is a good tool to have when working on stuff that needs to be torqued higher than a 1/2 torque wrench can reach, it is expensive kit to sit on the shelf. It is much more versatile then a 3/4 or 1' torque wrench because you can use it in tight spots that the long handle on a torque wrench that can go 600 ft/lb+ can't be used. Look, I know what it is like, I started with one truck, and had to prioritize repairs, I see big problems if you keep jumping problems without resolving any completely. I see real potential for a tow bill in your future, and trust me, you don't want that. It would be cheaper to pay to have the job done than it would be to "Kit up" for this one job.
    • That makes sense that its a check valve.  Primers are usually on the lift pump as you noted, but that setup looks like it does have better access.
    • My truck deals with alot of snow and wet salty road slush that get frozen and packed into the frame rails and everywhere underneath.  Current have 1800 lbs of that according to the scale house at the dump.  It took me a day with a torpedo heater to get the fuel line to where I could get it out.  The fuel problem is still there so I have ordered a new lift pump and just replumbed the electric back in.  The same issue is going to be changing out the air line from pump. In looking closer at the dryer and am pretty sure it is going to be junk from the corrosion from all  the road salt.  Going to pick up another one before I have the air lines made in case I need to route the lines differently. After cleaning the frozen slush out from around the rear of truck I noticed that the pinion is leaking pretty bad.  Brake cans have oil on them.  In checking oil level it is lower than I would of liked to of seen it. Finger crossed I didn't mess up anything inside the differential.  Good time to do another gear oil change also. My truck only runs about 150 miles a week with 2 trips across the valley of about 45 miles round trip.
    • Theres no number on the T piece except what can be seen in the picture.It is a one way valve.I spoke to the previous owner who toldme the hand primer was originally on the lift pump but it was difficult to operate so his mechanic made that set up.The one way valve makes it a lot easier to bleed the fuel system.This guy ran a few F 700s back in the day and this conversion was done on all of them too.The one way valve has standard Mack fuel pipe threads...The first picture shows the original position of the hand primer on top of the lift pump.Hope this helps you.... • I sent Andrew in Australia a few bottles of hot sauce last year, I think. Might have been the year before last. I call him Andrew in Australia because his name is Andrew and he lives in Australia.  Anyway, I think it cost about $50 to ship it. Might have been twice that much, I don't remember that either, but he said I spent too much, I shouldn't have sent it, etc. And I told him that it wasn't about the money, it was just the experience of me sending my own hot sauce and him having it. In Australia 🦘  Kind of like when I wanted to stop at the Big Texan Steakhouse before I retired, but never got a chance to. Closest I came I lacked an hour of driving time to get there. Stupid ELD. And people said "you didn't miss anything, it's just a tourist trap, you can get a lot better steak a lot cheaper at other steak places, blah-blah-blah". And I don't doubt any of that, it wasn't about the steak, I can probably cook a better steak in the back yard, it was just about being there.

      - I double sticked and old Mack to feed a stone crusher in 12 and 14 hour shifts six days a week all summer to pay for my chemistry degree.
      - Because I wanted to sleep for 1 min and 26 seconds each trip out of the quarry at the crusher's vibratory dump box at the top the quarry during those 12 hour shifts, I bulled the old MACK up long 20 degree and sometimes steeper grades.
      - THAT meant that I split each gear 1, 2, 3 after coming out of boggy low.
      - All I did was rev to the right engine note, reach my left arm down through the steering wheel to hold the curve I was on or hold the truck's path steady; slip out of 1st, throw the 2nd stick high into low and slip into 2nd gear... rev to the right engine pitch, slip to high.
      - Then when it was time, reach through the wheel again, slip high to low and 2nd to 3rd {if I correctly remember 60 years ago}.
      - The Igneous rocks were too heavy and the grade too steep for me to ever get into 3rd high.
      - The crusher team were the mechanics for everything and had replaced the old Mack's tranny gears because they had been ground too much. - - They later told me they didn't believe me when I told them I slipped all my shifts because the gears showed no wear.
      - Except for start and stop; Not once did I use the clutch because that made my leg ache too much after an hour or so.
      - I slipped all my standard 4 speed shift vehicles all my life...just to be with the music of the engine and car or truck.

      - I hardly ever change disc pads or brake shoes because I always slipped my gears downshifting...
      _ I learned that because the synchro rings got shot on my 1968 Volvo 122S 2-Door 4-Speed with an electric overdrive because I stupidly speed shifted and ruined them. https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1968-volvo-122s-17/
      - [Note: That Volvo's original owner was a Canadian Submarine Captain who rallied it and that is why it had Volvo's unique electric overdrive.]

      - {I clear coated over the bone white with Cadillac Firemist Green and painted the grills Black because they were dented...gosh it was stunning.}
