      President Trump said ‌on Friday he would increase tariffs on cars and trucks from the European Union to 25%, saying the bloc had not complied with its trade deal with Washington.   "Based on the fact the European Union is not complying with our fully agreed to Trade Deal, next week I will be increasing Tariffs charged to the European Union for Cars and Trucks coming into the United States. "It is fully understood and agreed that, if they produce Cars and Trucks in ⁠U.S.A. Plants, there will be NO TARIFF. We have a trade deal with the European Union. They were not adhering to it. So I raised the tariffs on cars and trucks to 25%, that's billions of dollars coming into the United States, and it forces them to move their factory production much faster."   The Trump administration last year imposed a 25% tariff on global automotive imports under a national security trade law, but reached a deal with the EU in August to lower those duties to a net 15%, inclusive of prior duties. In exchange, the EU agreed to eliminate duties on U.S. industrial goods, including autos, and accept U.S. safety and emissions ‌standards ⁠on vehicles. Although EU lawmakers advanced legislation in March to implement the tariff reductions, they continue to drag their feet.

      Excellent,, thanks for that ,,, lately around here people are air b and b ing thier campers as little as 85 bucks a day off season… I told Mrs mower if you could find a freight liner,,, I would drive it all over the place without crying

      Now that we have taken Larry's 300+ Rebuild topic totally OFF TOPIC, let's start one for continuing our thoughts. Bob Mowermen is thinking in the right direction about renting a 4 person (F-350-450) camper. I have no idea of the cost, but, depending on how much you plan on using it, on a per trip basis it should be cheaper than owning one?? And definitely easier than the hassle of motel rooms with pets. The best part is when you are ready to stop, all your need to find is a wide spot!! A camp ground is only necessary when you want to spend several days in one place. We have done several of the national parks on a drive thru basis and that sized camper will work a lot better than the big bus style.  Alaska: We did it on a motel basis, BUT the towns with a motel are 100 miles apart!! So you had to stop at 5-6 PM to get a room or else try to find one after 7 PM. All their main highways have pull over areas (some with permeant outhouses) where you can park overnight. Depending on how long a trip you want to make, look into a camper on a one way basis. Fly or take the ferry the other way. We took the ferry from Bellingham Wash to Haines AK and were on the ground the rest of the way. Including Jasper and Banff Canadian National parks, where I walked on a glacier. To plan a trip to Alaska, purchase to book Mileposts. This is the bible!!! It lists everything from sightseeing to museums to road construction.  Australia: We were on the two week 2015 ATHS Down Under Tour. This was a great mix of truck shows and private collections with a lot of tourist sights included. With a combination of air and bus transportation, and high dollar hotels and restaurants. To do it again I would rent a car, eat in pubs, and stay at motels. This trip was planned by Stephanie Vanatta, the daughter of ATHS past president John Vanatta, With her expertise as a travel agent and her father's truck connections it was a great trip. With the Aussie members we have here on BMT  plus some visits to this website: https://www.hcvc.com.au/forum/index you can obtain introductions to many museums and private collections. Also include New Zealand as there is a big collection over there.

      l'm just at 2.5 years of stepping out of a white Volvo. And l agree with you Tom, return it better than you found it. l was asked what took me so long to park the truck that last day. Told them it took time to remove my own stuff and to clean inside, wash windows, and sweep it out. The look on the transportation managers face was like, WTF why would you do that? We're just ol'school Tom    .....Hippy

      The war hits its 60th day on Friday, which under the 1973 War Powers Act is the deadline for the White House to secure congressional authorization for hostilities. The law allows a limited 30-day extension to wind down operations, but lawmakers are divided over whether that provision gives Trump more runway or forces Congress to step in. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth says an ongoing ceasefire “pauses” the countdown toward that May 1 deadline.

      This is classified information that no media should present. It should remain secret at least until the conflict has ended. Regardless of how CNN obtained the information, every CNN employee with a hand in making this public should be arrested for endangering national security.  They may have obtained it from Iran and Russia.  If it came from Pentagon sources, those individuals should be charged with treason and sent to Leavenworth. https://edition.cnn.com/2026/05/01/world/video/us-military-bases-iran-strikes-images-invs-digvid

      Haven’t been over here in a while thanks for that. The whole thing sucks. I feel sorry for lots of people that have to use a lot of it especially  especially independent truc truckers ….his go around. It doesn’t really affect me much at all. I usually only drive 30 miles a week. and my car is not a gas hog. Let’s hope this mess ends shortly… bob

      This is the current condition of my 47 EE project. The rebuilt EN271 is out and we are in the process of checking the fit of a big block Ford. It is the same truck that’s in my thumbnail photo taken a few years ago. I have managed to acquire all the new rubber cab seals and many are installed. I have a painless harness as well. 

      That engine and trans are on a pallet and probably weigh around 900. I believe the clutch is new and the trans was gone through. 
      Louisiana is a fair distance from the middle of Washington!
      That said, all the cab rubber body parts had to come from Massachusetts and it took over 3 grand for all the window, door, cowel, fender and more pieces to get everything. I found some parts back east but they are not cheap.
