  1. Mike Depending on how soft the ground is, there is quite a lot of room on the grass behind the tractor barn back toward the railroad tracks.. At least there are always a couple of wreckers around to winch you out of the mud!!!
  2. Our DPS man defines "commercial" as either the truck and/or driver recieving ANY FORM of compensation.. Trophys and ribbons do not count but cash prizes or someone buying you breakfast or a case of beer DO!!!

  5. In SC you can put an Antique Auto tag on it which has no gross weight and pull a regularly licensed trailer with YOU OWN stuff on it as long as you meet normal weight laws. with NO CDL!! Will try to send you an email thru here if not email me at brocky45@prtcnet.com
  6. Nice Find!! Will be looking for more pictures.. Mid 50's before White bought them??? I think Roger Gerhart also has one as well as the one who shows up at Macungie..
  7. I sure am glad I am an old fashioned "Old Fart", Bought a new truck last summer WITHOUT any GPS, auto start, or any of this fancy s**t, and carry an old flip style cell phone.. I realize I am not totally immune. but it will make it a lot harder..

  18. Welcome to the Dog House!!! Always looking for others from "Down Under"
  19. According to the SC Dept of Public Safety the defination of "commercial" in CDL is "If the truck and/or the driver receives any form of compensation." They said you can drive any sized vehicle for personal / hobby use on a regular drivers license. I realize each state has they own interpitation of the federal rules so the actual operating rules will vary from state to state.
  20. Sorry I missed ya'all!!! Forgot all about the time with this "Howling Mob" along on Saturday!! But, I did have my ATHS chapter name tag on..
  21. The SCDPS Diesel Cop, Sgt Micheal Still, who attended our chapter meeting last spring defined the word commercial as "The truck OR driver recieving any form of compensation for moving goods" . He also stated that you did not need a CDL to operate a large vehicle as long as there is NO compensation to the truck or driver.. When we asked he said ribbons and trophys do NOT count as compensation, BUT breakfast/dinner or a case of beer DOES!!! Since tractors and farm equipment do not have titles the is no problem hauling your friends stuff, If it is another truck we sort of decided amongst ourselves that a phony bill of sale would solve the explanitions of a routine stop. A fatal accident and you are up sh**ts creek anyhow.
  22. Joe I did NOT know this.. Was just tossing out ideas. I learn something new each day on these forums!! Thanks
  23. What about going to the 24.5 floats in either 385 or 415?? Will they carry the weight this man wants??? Then all he would have to do is buy new rims and tires and bolt them on.. 20 inch tube type= 22.5 tubeless 22 inch tube type= 24.5 tubeless Going to 22.5 would mean changing the spokes the same as Jim Hancock said about 12:00-24 tube type.
