  1. Mackdaddy I agree with you.. I drove one for Matlack in 1970. Could come out of Albany NY grossing in the high 70's on the NY Thruway, get in 5th, and never shift all the way to Syracuse. It was a combo that a newbie could not kill, and the old hand could sit back and relax..
  2. Randy Good story. I am NOT calling BS!!! I am assuming that 309 was a 4 lane that went over the mountain where 78 does today as 78 was not built until into the late 80's?? I was not in the area til the mid 70's.. And we had to go thru town on old US 22.
  3. That is a good looking R model wrecker.. With it to back up your Brockway 459 you can move anything your need to.. But I do not blame you for keeping it sorta private.. Your choice of jobs in your time frame and weather!! None of the hassells of commercial towing..
  4. Enjoy all the back roads pictures... Vlad must be right.. The Winfall Wimmin must have left.. OD couldn't find any this week??
  5. We have had Yuengling in South Carolina for about 3 years now.. Can have it regularly now instead of just when I brought it home from the daughters..
  6. Glenn That would depend on what the sludge inside the tranny looks like??? I would pull the shift tower and look.. It is about six of one and a half dozen of the other which way to bring the tranny out if necessary??? Partly depends on the tools and jacks available..
  7. Strong Arms!!!!! Several ways.. stripped that far down a boom jack (engine lift) should pic it, A strong overhead beam and a cumalong or chain hoist, Excavitor or back hoe, Bucket loader, ETC
  8. I will beat Yardo to this.. Have you sent the serial number to the Mack Museum????? They will provide a lot of info for a donation..
  9. Daave Good to see you out and about.. Hope Suzie is still recovering per schedule..
  10. And then cut across the parking lot so they can get out the driveway ahead of you, then wait for umpteen cars so they can make a left turn across 4 lanes of traffic!!
  11. Was he getting paid by the hour??? Or just Plum Lazy??? Thankfully you have the patience of a tanker yanker.. I might have been tempted to hand out an "attitude adjustment"
  12. This man must have recorded over 200 songs..from 1947 to 2003(??).. If you search You Tube you will find some that are just the album cover, some a series of stills, and some an actual video with either him or trucks, including road trains.
  13. Here is a link to some good music
  14. Sorry to hear about the cold.. Luckily I have not had one yet this winter.. BUT I got my hair cut yesterday!!!!
  15. Vlad Will have to wait for Joe D to answer your question, But here is the Brockway that is in the air..
  16. Ken You would have to call Kansas City to find out inside availability.. 816-891-9900 ask for Shelley. Just do it next week as shes is on vacation until Monday 3/23/15 or direct to her desk 816-777-0949 or email shelley@aths.org
  17. Thanks Jeff I never did get some of mine resized.. Anyhow you are a better photographer!!!
  18. Just found the whole news clip has been posted on the brockwaytrucks.org site. I think Tom Millard's post and discussion is on the forum about a year or two ago.
  19. Joe is right. Before the days of Spring Lock brakes there were a lot of runaway truck accidents in the citys of northern PA and Central NY. Long Steep down hill into town and no where to go at the bottom!! Usually an intersection with a turn in it.. Blow one brake diaphram and NO AIR!!! or transiants getting the brakes hot.. Aurora Street hill (96B?) coming into Ithaca NY even had a sorta leveled railroad crossing by Morse Chain which created a ski jump effect.
  20. Larry Most of the inside parking is for like "Brass Era" and other high dollar rare vehicles. ATHS has offered it for about the last 4 years or so since they have gone to larger venues.
  21. Matt That Electric lead in still looks intact?? What did they have across the driveway from the other end of the building???
  22. Mark Try placing this question on the ATHS forum.. There should be a bunch of trucks / campers coming East for the York show..
  23. It was at the Vintage Trucks of FL show on March 6-7. Did not catch the owners name, but it Purrs like a kitten and he took it on the 20 mile round trip parade with no problems. I think it is the first one I have seen with Budd wheels.. Would that have been factory stock???
  24. Tom Gongratulations!!! You now look like a proper driver, Not some raghead steering wheel holder.... Thanks for the tour with pictures.. look forward to it..
