  1. More of inside his gallery building Page and Page suspension on the "rubber Band" drive tag axle This is Ian Bell, the man who built and operated to above B model wrecker for many years
  2. These are all in his "Gallery" Building complete with Slim Dusty trucking songs on the sound system.
  3. The first building is his old CAT dealership shop, now his restoration shop. You will see pictures of the inside later. I am also posting some of the non truck pictures on the Just Old Trucks website here. This is an on going process so check in often.. http://forums.justoldtrucks.com/84264/Down-Under-Trip His replica "outback" gas station with a Mack Junior undergoing restoration in front of it.
  4. Here is Tony's dealership and collection in Rockhampton Australia. Even though the sign says Volvo Commercial Vehicles, I did not see any Volvos on the lot!!!! He has also imported several trucks from the States. I did not get a night picture of his Aussie 50th Anniversary Mack at night, All the chrome panels with the trucks name "Southern Cross" cut out of them are back lighted in red LED and the Mack letters on the hood are raised and back lighted with white LED's. They were just back from Alice and not unloaded. Tony is a great guy and what was scheduled to be an afternoon tour lasted until 9 PM. He called in a lot of ATHS members and friends and provided about 75 to 100 of us with a catered sit down buffet dinner!! Tony (standing) visiting with ATHS Chairman John Vanatta and his wife Carolyn and some of our group standing in fron of the sign Tony had hung on the fence between the dealership and his restoration barn and gallery. A customer truck in for service
  5. Speed I think (??) a lot of it may have been due to import taxes?? A lot of the Aussie's used older parts and styles in assembling vehicles. Not to mention the IH / Chrysler connection. IH L and R models with a Dodge Pilot House cab and Dodges with an IH A model cab..
  6. Timmy This whole deal was set up by top ATHS members thru a private tour director. So the private collections were thru various friendships. There were 30 of us total so it made 1 nice bus full.
  7. Paul and Paul I do not know what days or hours they are regularly open?? The big Reunion show only happens every 5 years, so start saving your pennies!! Possibly ATHS will have another tour??? I also have 3 more topics to start: Misc trucks at Alice and the 4 private collections in Melbourne which will be on Odds and Ends Other Trucks. And Tony Champion's collection which I will put in the Antique Mack section. SO STAY TUNED Brocky
  8. Job 41 Thanks for all the great info.. As Red Horse said it is all history.. Know where the Town of Maine is.. Grew up outside Ithaca on Town of Caroline Brockways thus my interest in plow trucks. Would love to have one down here to scare the S##t out of these rebels who think a dusting is a total blizzard!!!
  9. They also have a Railroad museum, that I did not take pictures of, and some tractors and construction equipment around.
  10. And some more. The Australian Kenworth Dealers Assn also has a big building with about 15 KW's in it that I did not take pictures of. This is the very first "Road Train", a Diamond T 981 converted to civilian use with home made trailers, and yes that pile of drums is on the third trailer.
  11. Here are some pictures of the Australian Truckie's Hall of Fame in Alice Springs museum facility and trucks. Alice Springs is out in the middle of the Outback, about the same as our Des Moines IA, except the climate is very dry like our Arizona
  12. Here is Peter Grimm's Brockway 761 (R Model cab) with a Pete bunk
  13. Welcome to the board! Glad to see you found your way over here..
  14. Vlad The Reunion part of the Museum is a Show that takes place every 5 years, next one in 2020, start saving your rubles.. They do have a lot of "Boneyard" stuff stored outside as their climate is very dry like our Arizona. When I get a chance I will post some pictures from the museum itself and some of the other trucks in the Odds and Ends section.
  15. Job 41 That looks like it could have originally been a western NY plow truck??? Erie, Chataqua, and Catarogus(sp) counties speced a lot of Acar's heavy like that..
  16. Maddog The pick ups belong to Tony Champion. He has several Macks imported from here. Will post them in a separate topic later.
  17. I was "Down Under" for a total of two weeks, but only in Alice Springs for 3 days, one of which was a tour of the McDowell mountains west of town. Spent one day at Tony Champions dealership and private collection in Townsville. Will post pictures later. and 3 days in Melbourne where we did 4 private collections on Sunday. Again pictures still to come!!
  18. Have more in the file when I get a chance to post. Took about 1500 total in AU..
