    • this is how i became a trucker.   my older brother decided he was superman and wanted to throw 100 lb bales all day. i was 13 and proved i could drive the 49 International L-190 with the 501 CI Red diamond engine and quad box trans. i would run the loaded trailers to the barn and swap them out for emptys. i never threw another bale of hay after that. and got the job of driving that truck everywhere. by fall i was delivering grain to the co-op 40 miles away.
    • Does it do them any good, to disconnect the air supply line to them and give em a squirt of some form of oil from time to time?
    • memories of the fun days. we didn't pay to go to a gym. it was summer time in the hay fields.  this must be the younger generation picture== only one bale at a time AND wearing gloves. for us it was two bales ; one in each hand (100lb each bale ) NO gloves and race across the field to beat the others to the stack. LOL
    • with todays kit building , it's easier to buy a number of kits for parts needed for special builds. I still have the book from A I M (Jim Etter) of yrs back which allowed the builder to basically buy every part needed for special builds. cabs, rails, engines, trans ,wheels etc. all parts were either resin or pewter. todays kits aren't 10.00- $12.00 anymore . have bought a whole kit just for the fuel tanks or frames. I CAN - retired. I don't spend it the kids think it's theirs LOL.
    • I have been pecking away at getting a B20 stopping again. After going back and forth I have been able to source new hydraulic cylinders and thought it may save someone the effort.   I think that a B30 with hydraulic brakes are the same but not 100%   Front Wheel cylinders- Napa 8806 and 8807. Sorry can’t remember which is L vs R Rear wheel cylinders.  Napa 15308.  Master Cylinder -Napa M661 RH rear adjuster kit - Euclid E-4148-Tu.  Not sure on the LH side but the thread is backwards.   Not exact but very close.  The adjustment springs are different but I was able to fab up what I needed from some old anti rattle clips    i have shipped the Bendix hydro vac booster to Apple Hydraulics in NY and am waiting for its return.  I have used them in the past with good luck.     Front wheel seals - Napa 27269 Rear wheel seals - 34994 I am still trying to source new brake hoses.  It appears that all 3 are the same.   If anybody has a lead I would appreciate it.  I do have a parts book but the numbers go nowhere.
    • first gear did make a number of 1/25th scale trucks= Mack and others.  the Red mack tractor 1/25 scale is detailed . mine  had a couple of unfortunate "accidents" while being boxed  during trip to TN and back to over tax CT. it's in need of shop repair and new parts ( front wheel etc).

Well  the time has come , the pickup bed is being built as I write .  It will look similar to the ad in the Saturday Evening Post  March  6 / 1943 that  MACK  had . I  am using Wilson trailer deck planks for the floor , because in the ad the slogan was " my middle name is Work " . If all goes well it should be  PETTY  SPECIAL .  I  guess for now it is one step at a time .

      E7 454 Random/ intermediate shutdown
hey guys ive got a 1998 CHR Vmac 2 with a E7 454 engine, truck is a salt field truck that has come into the workshop for a suspected electrical fault, engine will start to stall and then grab revs last minute before shutting off, then idle fine with no faults, or will stall all together and then when u try to start it again it will crank with no start. when it first came in  battery's where dead, alternator belts where extremely loose and main battery earth cable was split. replaced battery's fixed earth cable, tightened up belt then checked DTC's only found three fault in system, ( fuel rack position sensor/ current below normal or open circuit, Fuel actuator/ current below normal or open circuit and Timing sensor/ data erratic, intermittent or incorrect).
with these faults i checked over the wiring to the inline pump and found the connector had bear wires showing, replaced and re-pined a new plug, and repaired a few other rubbed wire's in the engine harness by the alternator. once done cleared codes in the truck, truck started up fine and would run fine for a while drove around yard no problem for two days but then when i went to park up on the fence for customer truck faulted again tried checking for any DTC's nothing was logged both active or inactive. if anyone's come across a fault that sounds the same and has a idea what to check out that would be great as this is the first time in dealing with this old of a truck.
found out what was wrong. the customer has had this truck at another shop for the same faults and didnt say anything about it, but what they did was cut all the wires at the ECU and ran 7 core trailer wiring out the LHS of the Cab firewall all the way to the pump, Bypassing the cab loom and engine harness, but what they did was they wired it up wrong at the pump side and ECU plug, finally found a wiring diagram and yeah found what they had done, so re-wired it all and put a new RPM/TDC sensor on and now she runs like a dream.

You say you have some parts, I also have many (not the window felts you seek tough) am looking for the plastic tube that goes to the air cleaner, the one that come straight off the cleaner, not the one that come off at an angle if you have??. Also looking for a cap for the air cleaner, to match the one I have, if you have any extras to sell a pic would be awesome.

I have a '59 B61 with quadruplex transmission.  There is WAY too much free travel in the clutch pedal, but, if you start it in gear, it creeps ahead.  I need to adjust the clutch and take some of the free travel out, which should also solve the creep problem.  I cannot find an adjuster bolt on the clutch.  Can this clutch be adjusted on the clutch itself or does it have to be done via the linkage?  The only thing that I can see through the inspection hole on the clutch face is a big hex head bolt that looks like it takes an inch and an eighth wrench.  This doesn't look like an adjuster.
