Just for the record

I know where serial number R607ST1036 is.A '65,it was a working truck up until 4 years ago. The owner is interested in selling it,as long as it leaves the Northern Illinois area. I can sympathize,as long as it doesn't get on a boat to leave! I think the +3 cab started with the mid-year '73 models. Storkmack's pulling truck is a '73,with a steel dash in it yet. Al

Joe,

He bought it in '80 as a yard truck that an old building had burned and collapsed on! When he bought the truck,it was powered by a END673P & a TRD-72 trans in it. He ran that combination for a couple years then repowered it with a ENDT675 & a TRQ-7220. It has had a couple of different 237's in it. Not sure about the trans,as far as replacements go. Al

Don't forget the last RD's were Aset engine trucks with all electronic dashes and the gauges and switches were all different, lol. Not a lot changed in 38 years for sure.

Heck look at camelback suspension, when was that started and what has really changed there, it would still be easily recognizable to a Mack mechanic from the early days.

I had read somewhere that over the production years of the R model, over 10,000 improvements/changes had been made. Must have been subtle improvements like drilling a hole a 16th of an inch away from previous one or something. Either way, thanks :MackLogo: for building a truck that built America, and is now building the rest of the world! (they were already in several countries all along, but are in more now!) Al

It had something like 18 miles on it when posted for sale. It was bought as a two-fer deal or something and the buyer only needed the other vehicle/equipment so this one just sat in the shop.

Some people have all the luck....money helps too.
