Figured I'd mention it, I heard from a friend of a friend who works at the Hagerstown Mack plant that this corona thing is messing with production because some smaller components that are supposed to come in through the port of Baltimore are stuck out at sea in quarantine. Unfortunately it sounds like the infectivity of this strand is increasing rapidly, which I don't think anyone who actually knew what they were talking about expected.

Well.......Time to make a plan then. When I retire I’m going to live Dec-April on a remote lake in my ice shack. Feed on fish, ramen noodles, fiber supplements, Centrum Silver and Moxie (if it ever becomes available here). Re-emerge into society when the ice gets thin and see how many of my friends made it.

Moxie, Centrum combined with Raman noodles will  cause massive flatulence and melt the ice and blow off the shack door. You need to counteract that effect with Moon Pies and Maine Blueberry Chocolates.

That’s what the worry has been all along. This is a respiratory disease found in animals which mutated and humans caught it, then it mutated yet again making it possible for it to be passed from human to human. No one knows for sure how far/fast this thing is/has mutated.

The problems we face today exist because the people who work for a living are outnumbered by the people who vote for a living.

The government can only "give" someone what they first take from another.

Will warm weather stop the spread of coronavirus?

CBS News  /  March 5, 2020

Every year, people across America cheer the start of spring, not only because it ushers in warmer weather, but because it most often marks the end of flu season. So it stands to reason that Americans are now wondering whether spring will also serve to blunt the current coronavirus outbreak

Dr. Gregory Gray, of Duke University's Global Health Institute Division of Infectious Diseases, says the summer months may lead to a small decrease in transmission, but likely won't stop the spread of coronavirus completely.

"It is hard to know," Dr. Gray said. "Routinely seen coronaviruses often wane during summer months as buildings have more air circulation, people tend to congregate less, and people are more exposed to UV light which can kill viruses."

However, he said this particular coronavirus, known as SARS-CoV2, "is pretty infectious — meaning it has a high basic reproduction number — and virtually 100% of people are susceptible. My hunch is we may see a 10% to 20% slowdown in transmission, but I doubt the virus will cease infecting people during summer months."

It is also important to remember that just because it starts getting warmer in the U.S. doesn't mean it's warm elsewhere.

"The virus will soon be very active in both the Southern and Northern Hemispheres, which have opposing summers and winters," Gray explains. "Hence, a summer slowdown in the Northern Hemisphere may be offset with a concomitant winter increase in the Southern Hemisphere."

The CDC's website says it is not yet known whether weather and temperature will impact the spread of coronavirus. It also points out that even though you are statistically less likely to get sick with cold or flu viruses during the summer, it's still possible to come down with them any time of the year.

"Some other viruses, like the common cold and flu, spread more during cold weather months but that does not mean it is impossible to become sick with these viruses during other months," the CDC says. "At this time, it is not known whether the spread of COVID-19 will decrease when weather becomes warmer.  There is much more to learn about the transmissibility, severity, and other features associated with COVID-19 and investigations are ongoing."

These go-rounds with moderate threat viruses may be a blessing and a curse. “Globe Killers” of the modern world are war and virus and we may be getting a practice run to see how our hyper-transportation planet does with containment.

Here is the Demo view on it.  That follows Schummer asking if Trump supporters are ready to give their lives for Trump to be re elected. NUTS!!

You realize how many Americans (just Americans) died in the 2018-2019 flu season? Per the CDC 35.5 Million contracted it, 34,200 of us died.

638 died (globally) from the Coronavirus so far this year. What’s going on here folks? Is it a global fake news competition??? They don’t want us to get the safer flu so the Chinese are trying to keep it for themselves?

As of 6 March, the global death toll was 3,404, while more than 100,000 people have been infected in more than 80 countries, according to the Johns Hopkins University Center for Systems Science and Engineering.

The death toll has passed 3,000 in China, where there have been over 80,000 cases.

South Korea, the nation worst hit by the outbreak outside China, has had 6,593 cases.

More than 55,000 people in China have recovered from Covid-19.

The mortality rate is around 2% in the epicentre of the outbreak, Hubei province, and less than that elsewhere.

For comparison, seasonal flu typically has a mortality rate below 1% and is thought to cause about 400,000 deaths each year globally.

SARS had a death rate of more than 10%.

Severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) and Middle Eastern respiratory syndrome (MERS) are both caused by coronaviruses that came from animals. In 2002, SARS spread virtually unchecked to 37 countries, causing global panic, infecting more than 8,000 people and killing more than 750. MERS appears to be less easily passed from human to human, but has greater lethality, killing 35% of about 2,500 people who have been infected.

When one more person dies of Corona in US the markets will have lost $43,478,260,869.00 per person out of panic.

The market decline, now, has more to do with the oil price war and well placed recession concerns.

WE (the USA) have become energy independent and Putin has an issue with it. He is trying to exert influence on the Saudis in his effort to control the oil supply chain. All this bull crap should be a wake up call to the US that we should control our own manufacturing in our country and not be so dependent on a world supply chain. FTW.

No, that's not it at all. A rare opportunity to give payback fell at Putin's feet and he plans to use it, even if it means dissolving his OPEC relationship.

Russia only needs $40 -$44 (depending on who's saying) to break even on oil. The U.S. Permian shale patch requires $60 (the Saudi's around $50). He refused OPEC's request to cut production even further, as from his perspective it would only bail out US oil that is heading for bankruptcy (the mighty Chesapeake Energy fell to just 12 cents today). Putin's thinking, why should I help the country's economy that is killing my country's economy with sanctions? Rather, let's let them feel some pain, like we've been feeling.

The health tragedy not withstanding, seeing the PRC begin to loose their clout in the world's supply chain is OK with me.

Remember, China never begged big business to come to China. Rather, big business intentionally off shored to enhance profitability.

Just as big business, with Clinton and politicians in their pockets, arranged for NAFTA.......allowing big business to produce more cheaply in Mexico and them bring it all in tariff free.

And as an added bonus, we taught China how to produce high tech product, and now they self-developing forward ahead of us.

And once the PRC saw the cash cow and how it would finance their agenda, they will protect it.

It doesn't cost anything to pay attention.
