  1. damn: makes a guy wonder what "Barett Jackson" would have got for it
  2. I too was not aware of the rework, had never seen it done in the private sector, the revamp of the military's earth movers is due, but I'm afraid the dependability and durability will not be as good as the old iron.
  3. as I have said before, farm boys can go wherever and do what ever! enjoy the change, and keep us informed on things!
  4. most push pull sw. have a bi-metallic strip in side the switch which serves as a breaker, it could be as simple as a weak sw. or a slightly shorted or grounded wire that causes an overload that is causing the "trip". It could also be as simple as a poor or loose fitting connection. look for discolored or warm/hot connections.
  5. hope you enjoyed your day!
  6. a back fire in a diesel is almost impossible , does this truck smoke heavily when accelerating? my best guess is that you have a bad injector and it is pushing unburnt fuel into a cool exhaust manifold then when back under power, the fuel ignites and causes a back fire. once the manifold is hot the next time you let off the fuel the raw fuel is partly atomized and would create white smoke but probably wouldn't back fire. does the engine oil dilute or smell of diesel?
  7. welcome chuck, this is the place to talk truck
  8. Randy, if you get stuck this will get you out ! but my E.T.A. could be a little lengthy
  9. if were going to change hoods ............how about a RW hood!.........just saying!
  10. if I was that truck ............I would want my barn back!!!!!!!!!!!!!! will keep an eye out for a visor. when I worked at the apple warehouse we had ford 534,477,and475 also a ih 549 and what a horse race between the 534 and the 549,usally a photo finish.
  11. that was last falls photo, it is still very solid it has a few stress cracks in the fenders but every thing else is tight and solid! the truck still has the dealer badge on it ,it has been an eastern Washington truck its whole life.
  12. try removing the speed sensor, (check the depth first before removing) then remove the fine debris from the sensor and reinstall. as far as the co-pilot check wire and ground connections.
  13. plugged into a current bush to power the eng. block heater!
  14. ok here's my other red ford a 64 856 superduty it had a 401 when new now it has a 534 5x2 trans heil dump box. tough ole truck!
  15. All depends on what you want my superliner is painted with case IH farm tractor red enamel paint that I added enamel hardner too, two gallons cost 120 bucks the two stage primer cost about 300 bucks, I don't care for basecoat clear coat for our hot weather the clear will start to fail after 3 years if not cared for. I figured I could buff and wax enamel easer than re do base/clear
  16. that's not oil! its HI-TACK! the last mechanic just used a 4" paint brush to apply it! very sloppy I might add, but i'm sure that's HI-TACK
  17. Wooly reminds me of my uncle Phil, he was hauling produce on the left coast, any how he knew something was really wrong with him when he got to Yakama to unload so he drove his truck to the E.R., walked threw the door and fell to the floor, he died right there from massive heart failure. Amazingly he too did no damage to anything while driving to the e.r.
  18. very nice job! and you have done it yourself, that's what these projects are all about if you ask me, any one can "pay" for show room restro. job and brag about it. I think when you have touched every part then you can brag.
  19. yep plum handy for moving "IDIOT CUBES" and faster than a farm hand!
  20. tighten with a 3/4 drive until it don't move any more then add a cheater and add at least 1/3 turn. then re check daily after operation until u bolts stay tight. sorry don't have a exact # but u bolts will move until they conform to the spring and upper saddle. if not fully secured the center bolt will shear and allow the axle to shift causing various misery .
  21. always wondered what pete slot Alcoa's would look like on a superliner, well now I know. glad to see its still rolling!
  22. Really Ken an English muffin? I thought those were for polishing tarnished metals or for applying rubbing compound! never knew anyone ate them Yardo: I hope Mike left your place in order and didn't retaliate for the damage we did to his place last year! Ken I think should have to buy that horse it will never be right again looks like a winter wonderland there , we had two different grass fires all ready, gonna be a hell of a year at this rate!
  23. well my week wasn't as bad as yours thankfully! tues. night temps dropped to 15 so I needed to run wind machines in the cherry orchard (were 30 days ahead of normal) any how went to start the last machine (a 455 olds powered unit) hit the starter and it sounded like a garbage disposal eating a steak bone, damn field mice filled the bell housing with cherry pits!! then the centrifugal force threw them into the pressure plate so the clutch wouldn't engage so at midnight I pulled the starter and dust shield so I could blow all the damn pits out about a hour later I had the machine going..............but hey no snow!
  24. I think that's a g model I don't think the f had the 3306 engine.
  25. Yep Yardo Sr. is deserving of a trip to the TK!.......just putting up with Jr. should be good for unlimited access!......btw ......ENJOY YOUR DAY!
