  1. very nice story and restro job. .....best of all no spoke hubs!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  2. AS FAR AS I KNOW NO DIFFERANCE EXCEPT GREASE
  3. I thought they were easer to hit and thus do more damage to the fiberglass, I always thought of mickey mouse ears when I see a r model turn signals, reminds me of a after thought that was poorly placed..............but hey that's just my thoughts
  4. I would say if the truck isn't used often I would grease pack the brgs. I see less condensation damage with grease filled hubs than with oil.
  5. that's not bad out here its 48,000 gvw unless your wheel base is longer and the steer axle has bigger rubber we cant even do 79,000 on 5 axles unless the bridge length between axle groups is right
  6. a good friend of mine had a "cold commit" reo civil defense van that he reworked into a mobile shop, the engine finally failed so he installed a turbo charged ford 460 gas with a c6 auto, kept the 2sp. rear and what a difference that made in the ol'e girl he would run it back and forth from here to the north slope in prudeo bay Alaska it was a very sound truck even after running around the oil fields.
  7. damn a v-8 in a u model, its going to need a kickstand real bad!!! if every thing came together just right it could lay over just by releasing the clutch!!!
  8. Yes where's the duct tape to function as a safety? both to hold the flap shut and to secure it into the chuck!.......this would never pass the RED GREEN test!
  9. the weather was too nice today so I gave the tractor a bath and serviced it and some of the little guys were glad to see some sunshine as well.
  10. well made a little more progress doors on siding on and added a stem wall then connected the new to the ugly
  11. 900.00 for steers! I hate to say I spent 800 for one 12-22.5 steer tire last fall new toyo mount and 2 bags of equal.........I just love les Schwab tire stores........NOT!!!!!!!
  12. now if she was in the ships galley I would Bust Out Another Thousand = BOAT to spend a few days on the water making waves!
  13. well as a firefighter I don't think I will use any more carbon fiber scba tanks! that explosion looks like it would hurt if that was on your back!
  14. sound as if the tractor protection valve is stuck. Buy a new one !
  15. I just had a vision of granny from the Beverly hillbilly's riding in the back of that! Sweet ol'e truck
  16. one of those would be awesome to see, I never heard of a fabricated engine.
  17. your a sick twisted man!............just kidding a loose rolling governor on a 53 would sure draw attention all right , beware of Yardo thou he may ruin the patina by throwing floor dry at ya.
  18. that's why they don't run them on trailers here , they cover over with snow so it would make sense that the head lights would do the same.
  19. our Tonasket fire dept. had one 10ft wide, I think it was a shorter wheel base thou had a 3500 gal tank and that looked right on that truck I'm thinking it was a m77 ? tank retriever it was a mack truck with a cummins 903 - 5 speed - 2 speed transfer case but its been since 1988 when I drove it. I don't remember the radiator being that far rearward so I too think it was relocated when the torque master was installed. did consolidated diesel exist then ? I thought consolidated diesel came from a joint venture between cummins and j.I. case. about 1985 ish. and our ran out at 52 mph. ........but every one moved wayyyy over when it was coming at them what a beast! 6 months after I left the dept. a steering wheel holder over speed the eng. and so they replaced the truck (jack ass). That truck with 3000 gal. on board would corner loaded like a empty 10 wheel tanker, now that tank sits on a 377 pete with air ride( now there's some pucker factor )
  20. had the military just done that prior to desert storm their never would have been a dust storm affect a convoy ! and all roads in Iraq would have been oiled!
  21. I bet if he would have called for a hwy. safety inspection the right fix would be applied. or just send that pic. to the insurance under writer, I bet when they get their cancelation, they will get the point.
  22. several more tricks are as follows: remove batteries and bring into a warm area and charge (remember no sparks around charging batteries) once charged load test to see if you have a weak one or three. then recharge if good. of engine is clean I often use a propane weed burner, lay it on the ground near the front of the oil pan and close the hood to retain heat. If the wind is blowing use plywood or such to block the wind, now leave a buddy with the weed burner (and fire extinguisher) go to area where batteries are charging and grab them by the time you get them installed the truck should start. also if the truck has a hand primmer on the filters or pump, pump up the fuel system then try starting.
  23. J Hancock: Ain't nothing better than a diesel burning SNOW SHOVEL!!!!!!!! is that one a hydro ?
  24. Maybe that Sterling SUCKS! and drafted the ford over.........
  25. well the frost is trying to come out of the ground here, ......MUDMAGEDION ....... 4th time this winter aughhhh! News was showing guys playing golf in Spokane.
