  1. I was wondering the same thing about the scan is engine.
  2. I learned at age 16 to back up a pup. You gotta remember to just aim the back of the truck where you want the pup to go. You learn real fast in the winter when you're trying to back into a steamy creamary and a crowd of pissed off truckers are watching you.
  3. On milk trucks it's very common for the rears to crack. I had one crack around all the bolt holes.....that one I replaced with a brand new updated housing that isn't supposed to crack. The others always cracked on the saddles and you clean it off good and weld it. I think mack makes a patch kit for them, or they did.
  4. I just went through this same conundrum. I had a compressor start pushing air into my coolant on a 427. It was a Cummins style Holset compressor on a Mack and I guess that's odd. Mack wanted $1300 and a week to get it. A different retailer in town wanted $400 and a week to get. Same reman, same compressor, just didn't have to pay mack their middleman fee.
  5. I would run one continuous rail from front cab mount to back of sleeper and use a 2 bag air ride out of a newer truck
  6. Cordell is here in Mn too. Very good reputation here but are mainly if you have children.
  7. We used to run a wood beam through the cab with towels around them and lift
  8. I have thought about what you wanna do many times. It sounds like a awesome idea but I think it'd be best to lift the cab up and install rails under it. Simpler and probably quicker in the end. If you have a larger A frame or header you would only have to raise it a foot
  9. Turning the fuel up can absolutely be hard on the cam. On a lot of engines the cam has a extra lobe that opens the injector. As you increase fuel pressure it can put extra pressure on the lobe and wear them down.
  10. That's why you hire the investigator. He gets all the dirt on her and it helps your case
  11. I'm sorry to hear that. I've been there too. Come home to a emptied out house. Because she wasn't "having fun" anymore. I learned a lot from that marriage/divorce, not one regret I have, although I was initially crushed. It really makes your next relationship that much stronger. Best advice I can give you......if it looks like it can get messy, hire a private investigator and a good lawyer. Be sure to hire the investigator though. That saved me a good half million dollars.
  12. There are pups that you pull with a converter dolly and pups that have their own hitch. The converter dolly is simply the back tandem or single of a semi, cut off with a pinto hitch welded on. You can back that dolly under any semi trailer. The other pups have a turntable, that is more of a permanent deal. They are bolted together.
  13. I was taught to never adjust the valve bridges, just the valves
  14. It depends if you want a set forward axle or set back axle. The 505's have a ton of lug, don't get a air ride front axle, get the Hendrickson/mack air ride on the rears,Eaton trannie, whatever axles you like and imo, the rawhide is worth it
  15. Be sure to check your liner heights to make sure they're not dropping. I had one with 850,000 miles and you could still see the cross hatches in it but the liner was starting to settle down to far.
  16. Wow! That looks perfect! Are you going to do the interior on your own too?
  17. What year were those built? I never knew you can fit that leaker in there
  18. The interior is almost the same as the older cabs. The floor doesn't angle but there is a ledge what the door sill plate is. The outside overall appearance and feel is very cheap. But it's the way everyone is going.........there were a bunch of prototype trucks up here and the guys said wind noise was terrible. Kenworth unbolted the grab handles and took them off the cab and the wind noise was gone.
  19. Amanders.....if you buy it are you going to give guys on this forum a actual discount on parts? Half price of new is no deal when you are considering list price.
