Popular Post D2Denny Posted March 6 Popular Post Share Posted March 6 Here is a tip on your wood floor. When I built my hot rod, I opted to put a 3/4" marine plywood floor back in. If wood was good enough for 4 million Model A's it would be good enough for me, plus it gives the car and floor a more solid feel. For the bottom side of the plywood I obtained a sheet of 22 gauge pre-painted steel siding metal from our local barn siding manufacturer. (They have rolls of this stuff in various colors that they roll into corrugated barn siding). Using 3M contact adhesive in a spray can, I sprayed both pieces, let it tack up and bonded them together. Once the floor is installed and bolted down it looks like a steel floor from below, sheds water, and is easy to clean oil and grease from. Top side got the dynamat, padding, and carpet treatment. Baskin robbins trailers had the double laminate side walls. alot of moisture there along with weekly pressure washing. never a problem. i'm sure expensive ;;; even taking a cut out rubber mat glued to top side of laminated for non slip floor . i used a cut piece made to fit inside of my day cab for my "motel lay overs " . clean, fit between seats and stood behind seats when not in use. sister-in-law made a cover for the "mattress"(2- 2in foam ) . like everything today the so called pressure treated plywood isn't that great. 1961H67 Posted Sunday at 03:06 AM Author Share Posted Sunday at 03:06 AM Hopefully I can get back to my floor in a week or so,, my old wood is 1/2 inch, I picked up a 2 foot x 4 foot piece of 1/2 plywood, I’m going to cut it out and try it, I think it will lay flush, then I can put sound deader on the bottom, I might be able to use 5/8 , the foot valve base bolts to it so it needs to be close to original.
