Volvo medium duty?

Very big...

I expect this to be something along the lines of bringing back an old nameplate or an electric tractor... can't think of much else that would be considered "big" by anyone that we wouldn't know about already.

Who needs a back yard when you could have a :mack1: Yard?!

Volvo Trucks Press Release  /  February 26, 2020

In the film ”The Tower”, we launch our four new trucks by stacking them on top of each other. The majestic tower drives through a mysterious landscape and on top of it you can see Roger Alm, the President of Volvo Trucks, in an unexpected role.

But what will ultimately translate to North America?  In any case they are good looking.  But old school as I am, I look at all of these features as longer term maintenance nightmares.  Or from another perspective, you don't "fix" anything in the future--you rip out the "bad" module and install the new one.  Not a knock on Volvo-just the way of the world these days IMO.

Will we even see the new cab here? IIRC Volvo is still giving us north americans a conventional version of the cabovers from the mid 90s with a new hood. Thus it looks like this is probably the second update we'll miss. Not that we'll miss much- the 80s vintage Mack conventional cab is still a better design!

You are right.  I promise to think about Volvo every time I drive past a Freightliner or International dealer.  Which is often........

I even know where to buy an Autocar now!

KS: We would be more excited and supportive if Volvo pushed Mack like Diamler pushes Freightliner and Western Star. Since the 2000 takeover we have gotten:

A warmed over Vision with a plus 4 cab  (Mack Pinnacle axle back).

A lighter Mack Granite with a Cummins engine. (MHD)

An LE trash truck. ( Not bad but looks only a mother and NY city could love).

A Titan.  (Woops we think a Volvo heavy haul is a better option)

An Anthem ( Pinnacle axle back with the roof knocked out)

New Pinnacle( axle forward CH with an enhanced bow tie grill)

And don't forget the steering wheel with the flat bottom.

No new heavy haul options or big power.

On a positive note. New interior designs all around and the new MD(better late than never I guess)🥱

I can't even get excited about the new interiors. Less gauges (and unclearly labelled at that), the seats pushed out against the doors and no more paw print floor mats, bulldog emblems or Bulldogs on the mirrors any more. It's like they are trying to erase all hints to Mack heritage.

But they aren't the only ones. Just like I said before, the new brain trust at International (who came from Peterbilt...enough said) thought it was a good idea to discontinue all the old heritage names like Paystar, Transtar, etc and replace them with such iconic memorable names like HX, HV, LT, CV. Wow, that's clever.
