Open the gates at the Rte 15 end of my road, pull in and before i pushed the button to close the gates my phone rang. As I'm answering the phone a white SUV pulls in behind me and a man gets out with a clip board. Now I'm over loaded by 12 tons so I think it's VA DOT. The man asks me if I'm union and demands to see my card. Now I'm on private property and working on my own project with a load of my own stone, so I told him no F.n way. My property, my materials and no outside company doing anything. now he goes to open my door, So I tell him if he opens my door and attempts to climb up ,I'll shoot him. Called 911, put the phone on speaker and informed the operator that I had a person attempting to enter my truck for my side and I have the phone on speaker and I am armed and will shoot if he enters my cab. He asked where I was, gave him my address and informed him I was 1/4 mile up my driveway inside my gate. Mean while Hoffa wanna be is on his phone it is legal for him as a union rep to stop at any site and card me. Va State police showed up, after he told the officer it was legal to enter my property in a 1945 court ruling he was informed it is a private residence and if I wish to press charges he'll be arrested and how he's lucky because had every right to shoot him. As he was escorted off my property he informed me he'll be back as the union has every legal right to enter my property. Im non union and the job was non union just me on site, I was tarping a load of debris when he walked up. No proper introduction to his name just that he was with the union and asked if I was union and if so to see my card. I said no im sorry im not part of any union so cant help you with that. He asked for my name and I said Im sorry I did not catch your name? He again did not give a name just a union name.. So I politely said ok I think were done here, The company name is on the door, if you have any more questions they can help you. I dont just give out my name to random people just as you dont feel the need to either but Im sure we both understand. I pulled the truck out to the street and walked back and asked again that he please leave the site. He ignored and continued to talk on his cell phone. He again refused my polite but 3rd order to leave. So with him ranting on the phone. I said im closing and and locking the gate. As I started walking back to the truck he started to talk with a different tune. I Said have a great day, I will be notifying the company owner of your refusal to leave the site when asked continually. I Am a Teamster 282 since 1975. And I'm positive his pants were loaded after showed him I was armed and informed the dispatcher if he tried to climb on my truck I would assume he was jacking me and shoot him. I value my Calico to much to use it as a club. Popular Post davehummell Posted March 9, 2018 Popular Post Share Posted March 9, 2018 I was always going on jobsites to fix trucks or the booms or forklifts always every one was just happy i got the product off the truck never did any union people give me a hard time but we were supplying brick on a social security building and i was trying to get the boom to swing here comes some union guy chasing me off the place i told pete the driver strap the load down were going home and to the union guy i told him the truck is not going to be back for 2 or 3 days due to the mechanical issuses. And when i send the truck back i will bill for another delivery boy did the crap hit the fan. After all the bigwigs got done bitching to the owner of my company he told them just what i said the union guys figured maybe it would be ok if i fixed the damn boom right now after screwing around for 2 hours i fixed the boom in 15 minutes. Popular Post tjc transport Posted March 9, 2018 Popular Post Share Posted March 9, 2018 years ago i had a union big shot arrested after he decided to close down my sand pit. declared it was a union pit, and only union drivers and operators were allowed in it. his reason for that decision was we were delivering to a site near his job. so he parked his car across the road. i got there about the same time the local sheriff did. i told him he was trespassing on private property and he had 2 minutes to leave or i would remove his car. he went off on the sheriff about non union drivers and operators delivering to a union site and in general being a dick............about that time i scooped his chevy caprice up in the bucket of the 988 and dumped it on the shoulder of the road across the pit entrance as the sheriff was putting him in handcuffs for drunk driving, drunken disorderly, assaulting a police officer, resisting arrest, trespassing on posted private property, , threatening a police officer, and a few others. needless to say he was fired from the union and we received an apology. 6 1 1 Quote when you are up to your armpits in alligators, it is hard to remember you only came in to drain the swamp.. Usually no need for that, just industry knowledge and a little common sense will tell you if a worker should be paying dues or not. Actually, it's more important to make sure all the members get to participate in union elections and contract negotiations. Got carded all of once myself in a half century of trucking, was temping for a couple days for a contractor serving 3M while laid off from another Teamster represented job. theakerstwo Posted March 11, 2018 Share Posted March 11, 2018 About 3or 4 years ago we was haul asphalt toa new bank building here in Town.I was first truck to the lay down machine and the operator told me if some one ask you tell them you work direct for our company.I unload and start around the building to leave and a manwalks out and stops me.He ask what local i belong to.I say something and dont remember what but he said you need to not come back and by that time he was in my face.Some one else came out and said something and he leaves.So that was all that was said and we worked their maybe 3 days but they were all out of town contractors and he is going to thow me out of my town.I carry a can of wasp and hornet spray i have been wanting to try out.And if they like that i have something else i know he will like better.After that that leaves a brown taste in my mouth.I belonged to the teamsters for 6 years when i work at the old dealer and i never seen things like i see now. 1 Quote glenn akers Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
