  1. R688ST with Canadian style air cleaner? What is the body setup? Looks like firetruck to me. Would be cool to see it saved.
  2. At least you can see some EQSW's in Mack EH etc. photo archive (green book). And one absolutely incredable looking EQU2D on page 118. Looks like there are 44 rears either. Another cool thing is white/blue/red Mack NM with Timken axles and the crane. The cab seems converted using the most parts off H63 or 67 day cab.
  3. I would try to figure out how deep the rust spots are and could be removed by hone keeping the piston/liner clearance limit. If the rust isn't hard you may just get it off with sandpaper. Currently I have Mack E6 engine wich was factory rebuilt with no miles but stayed outside for years. The crank is new excepting one main but all the liners need replace. Good luck with the project and welcome! From posted above you can see your truck worth to be babied. Vlad
  4. That temporary electric pump isn't a bad thing at all. My R model had its original supply pump ruined long while back and previous owner installed electric one of the type fuel injection cars have. Easier to say Bosch pump off some old Mercedes. He either had to remove the rest of the mech pump and put a hand made cover in place it was. Since that the truck runs with electric pump and I saw no issues with it. Additional bonus I don't need to worry about any air soakings in the lines wich aren't of a fine condition. When I get myself to restore my R or at least revise the engine I would probably like to make all the things stock. But I see no reason to go off that electric pump until that moment. It mounted stationary on the side of the fraim rail though. Good luck with the trip, hope you'll have more chances to get you with your truck. Seems like experience comes fast. I tell that as a man who was never dealing with big rigs just 4 years back and has about four thousands km driven to the moment. Sorry to hear about your job interruption.
  5. I worry you need to get about the same amount of air off the tyres as I should get water off Atlantic to drive that animal home.
  6. Hell, I've just almost forgot. That picture makes feeling. I noted it when watched your album. Oh, no, it couldn't be real! Your garage gate is toooo low to pass that Aussie thing to be kept inside!!!
  7. All that written above makes sence. I feel myself lucky I spend the most of a day on feet. Would be good to get about 10 kg off to look athletic. I haven't do it although don't get more and more kilo's making no efforts to keep my weight and form constant.
  8. Kscarbel, many thanks for sharing! It's nice seeing how you guys are having a cool time. Randy, I surprized that Aussie Valueliner and FWD went in about the same second.....
  9. I'd suppose they are the same for 673 turbo, 237, EM6-300 and E6-350. I mean the offered ones. Am I wrong? As for the brand you asked Mahle is a top quality product for European car market. Many Mercedes engines had pistons and rings made by Mahle.
  10. Being wondering wich one it is and hadding no time to watch the movie yet (I sure will!) I might make two statements: 1st - that's not Mack, 2nd - that's a firetruck.
  11. I'm also going to put my steps on that path. That head liner front part has cracks and some small pieces over the screws missed. So it will required not only form fixing but surface work. It's like a leather outside and easy filling/sanding would make it flat. Might be made applaying scratching but seems like alotta work without perfect turn out wich would worth the labour. Any experience?
  12. Looks like you worked too much that week so kept the camera up side down making the first shot. I agree with Tim, your R is one of my favorits from all others I've ever seen on the net. Wish you a long while before you feel a need to swap it with something newer.
  13. Imprtessive inventory of equipment is in that lot.
  14. Those pieces of old iron like getting attention. That is what they have in common with women. On the other side issues and brakedowns are a part of owning and loving it. A kind of adenture. Seems like in the both cases though. Glad to here you guys came home safe.
  15. That's a nice place you're able to work with your projects. Just a fun putting your eye on lovely old pieces of machinery in pauses when you stop doing a hand job needing a bit of thinking. The picture for you to cheer up a bit knowing you're not alone with MH front torn down apart. It was made in the spring and now the parts aren't back together.
  16. Looks like a nice day. Just ran out of likes.
  17. Paul, does your one have 672 or 673? 672 is Lanova.
  18. I agree. If more sure is needed just make ten full revs and divide the result to get the sharp figure.
  19. It wouldn't be a lost time to make some prop shaft flange turns and count how many the hubs do. Than make a math and get the actual ratio.
  20. Love the flames!
  21. Tom, thank you for posting. That RW wrecker has very nice color scheme on my mind.
  22. Good progress BC. Seems there will be the part Trois though. A bit off-topic, there's a big yellow locomotive of a beautiful old days style. Keeping in mind the bus project I might suppose it's yours either
  23. Randy, thanks the great for sharing so many show pics of excellent quality! Real pleasure to see being not able to attend personally. Many nice rigs I haven't ever seen before. Love white/bronze B81 wrecker and green L sleeper cab with hard nose. Hope you wouldn't see anything wrong that I saved some of them pictures onto my hard disk. I see Mack museum has good progress on WW2 Mack NM they restore. Funny thng some while back the museum contacted me having a need of the oil filter housing for that truck. Unfortunately I hadn't it but redirected them to Netherlands and the filter came to the adress. It was very nice being helping the museum folks.
  24. Best Birthday wishes!
  25. Thanks Paul, just have laughed my a$$ off!
