  1. Mack is no competition to Navistar-Tatra/oskosh.
  2. Diamond-T's were like cornbinders with class and Quality.
  3. That my friends is just plain fugly when compared to an MH
  4. Thats the one and 5,000 dollars more to boot. Some truck broker out of Florida.
  5. Gorgeous MH 613 on truck paper. Black with red frame. Long wheel base. 700 horsepower E-9. 330,000 miles.$ 32,000. I wish them there dollars grew on trees. I think Vinny will give up on U-models if he sees this.
  6. Ah Its good to have an insider at Macungie.
  7. Mr Hancock thats funny. I am guessing they had some bad luck with the visions and thats how the columbias snuck in.
  8. A lot of people call them boat anchors however if you treat them right they will treat you right. Oil change, coolant change, keep the rpms down a little and downshift a little before needed. These are not torque engines but rpm engines. Just don' t go crazy on the rpm's.
  9. Do the same on the Mack web site as well.
  10. Submitted to Volvo web site 4-13-14 If you want to get a leg up on Paccar/Diamler & Navistar. Bring the Superliner and Trident over to the States and Canada. If not the States then at least Canada which has similar road configurations and conditions. I know you probably don't like the tail (Mack) wagging the dog (Volvo) but think of the customer and your bottom line. You have two of the best products in the trucking industry (Superliner & Trident) way under utilized.Thank-You for your time. James Neiweem. Fellow Mackers bombard those Volvo thick skulls with similar requests. Go to the Volvo AB website under contact-general and compose at will.
  11. It's to bad the Aussie Macks are right hand drive. They could be imported if they were left hand drive.
  12. "But now linehaul is a significant chapter in our book that we want to start to re-write." Wake up Volvo-Super Liner with MP 10 for the states. Would compete against Paccar for long haul/Lowboy/logging/oilfield/big power dumps.
  13. Finally they have a web site. Sharp loking paint scheme blue with red frames. Seems like they alternately buy 5-10 Cascadias and then 5-10 Pinnacles. Used to be an all Mack fleet R's and CH's. Then they slid in a few Columbias.
  14. Stainless steel shim stock wrapped around pipes etc is an excellent rub protector. Stainless is very tough.
  15. drive shafts can be removed and balanced on a machine by adding or removing small weights. If the imbalance is at your cruising speed this can be mechanically harmful so you want to make sure there is no imbalance at this speed. You may experience some imbalance at a particular rpm as you run up through the gears but this will go away as you move on up the rpm range. You can check the bearing play in the tranny and rear end with dial indicators. Hopefully its not time for transmission bearings and hopefully you are not missing any gear teeth.
  16. An idling engine builds up heat due to no air flow. The fan has to eventually cut in. Good luck with the 460. there are many people on this sight that can give you the ins and outs of just about any Mack engine.
  17. Towards the end of the gaser era Mack used Chrysler gas engines. Were these engines superior in some ways to IH, white, Continental ,ford etc. I remember the 318 (a relatively small displacement engine} used to power buses and med duty trucks quite successfully. Somebody on this site mentioned that the Chrysler engines were much beefier than the small block chevies.
  18. Seems like all this talk of the Euro Union being weak is a lot of whoooooy. They seem to be much stronger than the US in Engineering and manufacturing. Also their companies are in for the long haul. None of this going out of businss or takeover nonsence that goes on in the US.
  19. Now Now Now I worked in Nuke Plants for 30 years. US plants are safe. I'll take Nuclear and clean coal. What woul be a good use for ex heavy speced coal trucks. Lowboy service? Would be a shame to run as a pit truck. Way to young for that.
  20. Obumer is trying to kill the coal industry.
  21. Another old dog still at work. What were the specs. There can be a lot of mud on a farm from time to time. Mack's can be good mudders.
  22. Time DC is a bulk hauler out of Kentucky. Time dedicated carriers. Not Time Denver- Chicago.
  23. That Time-DC trailer looked to be in good shape.
  24. More volume lower in the box?
