  1. I thought those Granites looked familiar.I wonder how long Tilcon will keep the Granites. It would be a shame to see them all replaced with Paccars. Nice to see Macks in the Tilcon fleet again. I think the last ones were RD's and a couple of CL's. I see they have the new 300 numbering units. I wonder if the original 200 numbering units were in the sale. It didn't take long for Tilcon to give them Tilcon numbers. For those who don't know Tilcon is owned by Irelands New Castle. More buying up of America!
  2. Yes I wonder where all of these old time members have gone!?
  3. The king and queen of Sweden will be happy as will Mack defense employees.
  4. Other dog thanks for all of the eye candy!
  5. Troublemaker- You are in luck! Go to face book they have a group chat for Harry T. Campbell. 129 members. All kinds of photos of their mixers. Nice shot of a B model mixer, lots of E A and Lj models. IH KB's , White WC's, parafenallia, etc. Photos of bumpers with watch that child.
  6. From what I read the Cummins X10 replacement for the L-9 and X12 should be out in 2026. Looks like it will be strong competition for the vertically integrated power trains of the Europeans!
  7. Not only should they be made in the US but owned by the US Companies. Lets come up with policies to send the Europeans and Japan packing. Tariffs can level the playing field. There aren't enough toes and fingers to count the number of once great American Companies that have been lost to these foreign countries. US government officials and corporate boards of directors should be ashamed of their greed!
  8. I found an even more extensive history on the Mack V8 origins and Scania relationship. -Go to curbsideclassic.com/blog/engines/the-legendary-mack-v8-diesel-engine-1962-2003-big-power-with-a-distinctive-sound-and-its-scania-v8-off spring-is-still-going-strong/ Seems to indicate Mack was the origin of the original Mack/Scania v8. Mack shipped Scania a V8 (probably 864 version) and then they both went their own separate ways in development. Volvo squashed the Mack development side of things in (2000-2002), and Scania continued on, even to this day.
  9. That will be one hell of a tractor! Good luck! Keep us informed as you go.
  10. Probably site trucks for TVA power plant construction.
  11. The 864 Mack V-8 came out in 1962 as I recall. The engine pictured here is a Mack V-8 not a Detroit. You would think the truck would be a 1962 or newer.
  12. I disagree that Cummins has such a stronghold over the entire truck industry. With vertical integration by truck manufacturers Paccar, Daimler, Volvo and VW all have their own engine offerings competing against Cummins. Give credit to Cummins for being able to pull through and be the sole option to the big four(Paccar, Daimler, Volvo VW( Man and Scania). All are European engine manufacturers vs Cummins. I say the sole US truck engine manufacturer deserves support.
  13. Why is the Mack MP-7 and Volvo D-11 being canceled and what will replace it? Is the Mack pinnacle being canceled or just the sleeper model. The Pinnacle day cab is a good seller in the Boston area.
  14. I remember when I was a kid seeing an H model in the shop with the engine on a slant as I remember.
  15. The original H model H-60/61 (cherry picker) had a flat floor I believe. The H-63 had the height dropped a bit. I think the floor was on two levels (driver side lower to allow for the dog house. Was the engine on a slant toward the passenger side. Was the H-63 floor the same as the H-67 or a flat floor. Why no H-65?
  16. There still some bones there that can be worked with the right individual!
  17. Remember seeing a lot of Cx's for them and Zumstein thereafter.
  18. Remember the Akers Mack H's and F's well. I never saw any thing other than Mack's for them-may be a White 7000 or two. Surprised to see the IH's towards the end. I remember reading somewhere that Akers was not big on maintenance. If a truck broke down they might just abandon it and replace it with a spare. May be a rumor not sure. Breakdown maintenance and the buy low bid new tractors.
  19. I just recently read somewhere that it was Chicago cab. Ma bee they built some. My one brain cell can't remember where I heard this. Could have been AI or face book BS. Us old timers with trucking history and knowledge have to laugh at this AI BS. I almost do not want to correct AI as it will keep getting smarter and smarter. There is a logging website on face book that takes parts and pieces from Mack E's and B's, IH KB's, White WC's and A-Cars and conjeur up a truck. They blow it on engine models and years installed routinely. I'll stick with my historical head knowledge and that of others over AI BS for now. I guess in the end they will get it right. Yeah looking up Chicago Cab gives you a lot of info on yellow and checker cab rabbit holes!
  20. Just turned 80 myself. I grew up in Chicago land with the B-61's(Celli, Palumbo, Vulcan), IH R-230's, White 9000 coup cabs(Material Service), A-cars and Big Henries. Got out of the Navy in 69. Moved to Ct. saw my first B-81 in person rather than pictures. Truck spotting in Ct was just as good as Illinois thanks to the building of the Interstates. Was a big fan of Tomasso and O&G until they went Paccar! I do like the looks of the KW 900 B's though I must say.
  21. I believe the Comfo Vision Cab was built by Chicago Cab now defunct I guess?
  22. What garage is open one to two days per week?
  23. Can somebody copy and paste the face book Scania/Mack article to BMT?
