  1. Towards the end of the gaser era Mack used Chrysler gas engines. Were these engines superior in some ways to IH, white, Continental ,ford etc. I remember the 318 (a relatively small displacement engine} used to power buses and med duty trucks quite successfully. Somebody on this site mentioned that the Chrysler engines were much beefier than the small block chevies.
  2. Seems like all this talk of the Euro Union being weak is a lot of whoooooy. They seem to be much stronger than the US in Engineering and manufacturing. Also their companies are in for the long haul. None of this going out of businss or takeover nonsence that goes on in the US.
  3. Now Now Now I worked in Nuke Plants for 30 years. US plants are safe. I'll take Nuclear and clean coal. What woul be a good use for ex heavy speced coal trucks. Lowboy service? Would be a shame to run as a pit truck. Way to young for that.
  4. Obumer is trying to kill the coal industry.
  5. Another old dog still at work. What were the specs. There can be a lot of mud on a farm from time to time. Mack's can be good mudders.
  6. Time DC is a bulk hauler out of Kentucky. Time dedicated carriers. Not Time Denver- Chicago.
  7. That Time-DC trailer looked to be in good shape.
  8. More volume lower in the box?
  9. I believe you nailed it Red Horse. Especially the White 9000's and later Louiville's and don't forget the 2000D's and Fleetstar A's
  10. 57-Are the Meyer mixers disappearing. Are you downsizing. If you ever run accross Dennis Spoeling give him a high.
  11. Seems like it might be a dealership locality issue on the sale of Granite tractors. It would seem that equally speced pinnacle axle back, axle forward and granites would be in the same price range.
  12. I've read that the U model was offset so that there was a better view for the left side (which was true) but that would be offset with a worse view to the right. I also read that the U model was offset so that the driver would have more leg room. This seems to be the more logical reason since there would have been no leg room if the cab was centered.
  13. Nice catch on the CTC RB. Nice to see R's still working especially Celli
  14. How many of those Windham Macks are in mothballed. I used to see them all the time about 15 years ago. Now I see a couple of red T-800's from time to time.
  15. Drove right by Bolton yesterday on 495 and forgot all about it until I saw a couple of bob tail KW's, an orange Superliner with a B model on the back and a green B model flatbed on 395 ct heading North.
  16. Mewin I am guessing they changed rd hood in 92. In my opinion you have the better looking hood. They should have offered both after 92.
  17. That RD would look pretty sharp if you took off the manure and gave it a little paint. That B-81 looks to be in good shape.
  18. The Granite is currently the most popular platform truck(rolloffs, dumps etc. But it seems that there are very few granite tractors. I'm wondering why this is.
  19. I know Gateway New Haven has one R model tractor left. Did they have alot of them in the past? Are there any old gateway photos? When did they go peterbilt.
  20. Some Gen sets have heated water or oil. The big EMD.'s have a circulating oil pump that runs all the time. .
