  1. I was think'n '30s I believe stuff like that was in the Art Deco period . It reminds me of some of those tankers and beer trucks from back then.
  2. There's not too much in those pictures that doesn't have potential. All very interesting stuff......even that thing that looks like a torpedo or something that I have no idea what it is.
  3. Ether is a tricky thing. if metered in properly it can be a cold weather starting aid. Just sprayed in recklessly ??? the engine can easily be running out of time and to uncontrolable RPMs if anywhere in the intake is loaded up with it. So yeah, it can get out of hand if not used sparingly . Some old Cummins engines, when they became worn and hard starting in lower temperatures it would seem as if they wouldn't start without it (addicted) most likely the engine was a combination of worn out and cold. Most guys would sooner forget about how things were years back compared to starting diesels now.
  4. That's pretty good thinking on that girl's part. Keeping those life preservers so close to the lake. No wonder someone took her picture.
  5. This is gonna require some pictures .
  6. Thanks Bob, I didn't right click until reading this. Always like seeing old trucks as they were.
  7. If you need someone to drive it so you can hear how it sounds going by ??? I'll do it .😀 That engine sounds like it's in good shape.
  8. Company in central new York has tractors that look similar. They're a tanker operation. Long time Mack users.
  9. That white truck looks like it could have been an Alnye truck

They get a bad rap.... those engines like it or not did a lot of work over the years.

Really. I get the truck was worn out and all, but it really did take a lot of abuse . Went way farther than I expected it to.

Paul...... I can't believe the changes I've seen in two years, never mind decades .
  13. Could be leaking after your EGR cooler too.
  14. I too have seen these on mixers. Maybe in really cold climate (like you'd be pouring concrete there in the first place) a smaller HP engine might benefit from it on a cold start cause there's less fuel at full fuel throttle position ??? It'd have to be pretty cold to need it. A Mack engine in anything much above fair condition usually starts easy in the cold.

Gee Bob, there's these bright red sneakers I see guys wearing. they must be comfy cause I see so many in them..... and we all probably bought them already and didn't even realize it yet
  16. This is why you're supposed to ask someone what their pronouns are . 🤣
  17. Just curious , did some genius just hack into that for the trailer brakes ? It's pretty tough to try and determine what might have actually been done to that truck.
  18. The term "caging" is referring to the parking brake part of the air chamber (spring brake) if you try removing the air chamber on the truck with the parking brake on and the spring not caged the chamber is going to be spring loaded and as you loosen the mounting nuts the chamber is going to be trying to extend the rod . !!! This is a good way to get hurt !!!
  19. Joey.... that's a true story. Where the F@&$ is the common sense ?
  20. How about in Connecticut this morning ?? same people that were BLM'n with all their might today were basically waving signs around say'n "kill the unborn" somehow through the breeding process ?? seems the stupid always make it .

Those FROs are fairly easy to come across. They're no where near the cost of 18s or 8LLs , and most guys will part with them for very little $$$
  22. That chamber in the box ? It's not caged. You can see the cage bolt stowed away on it in the picture. That means the pushrod is sticking out. No offence, but if you don't understand that maybe working on the brakes isn't the greatest idea (again, NO OFFENCE) Someone likely put a boggie from another truck under there and Lord knows how it's plumbed or what else is going on there. Might be time to get some hands on help that can assess the situation , and make the repairs it needs. Might turn out to be the cheapest route in the long run.
  23. They need to be caged to cut to the correct length, or the brakes'll never work. Are you sure there's not some issue with traction control or something ? Seems odd it comes and goes with the key. (if it even has traction control ?) one thing for sure it's not a common set up for a 2004. Maybe some pictures of the whole back of it from behind and looking down from in front of the drive axles ???

Look on the bright side, they ain't worth too much and are all over the place. Pretty low on the food chain as compared to an RTLO (something) or 8LL. Still one more headache to deal with though
  25. My MX is pretty easy to get over 7. I put 2 speed rears in it . They work great for crawl'n through soft ground loaded
