  1. Wow, that's something how that wild sea gull isn't afraid to get so close to the vacationers .
  2. 7th gear (hi split) is direct gear in this transmission ( 1:1 ) if it's making noise in direct ? likely not the transmission. ( this applies to all manual transmissions ) If there's no metal on plugs from the transmission, there's probably nothing wrong with the transmission. Like the guys are saying, drive line or rears is most likely the culprit.
  3. Don't kid yourself, as new trucks go, those 49Xs are pretty good looking. Maybe the new (?) Mack will have some more trucklike eye appeal the a VNL or VHD
  4. You did the right thing.
  5. Not totally impossible for the truck to have drive line issues. U joints, carrier bearing (s) yikes. It can telegraph back to the engine. Rare but not impossible.
  6. Front and back are the same with AL they make a bracket for the sensor. That welded on hole isn't a total necessity
  7. Isn't that some kind of federal offense ?
  8. I think it's called (inter wheel power divider) as opposed to inter axle power divider
  9. Trust me on this one....there was an option for cam and wedges instead of spiders. Maybe it was only the back rear, but they made it. I'd have to agree, 92/93 ? they had to be abused beyond God only knows what or worn out from years of use. And yes , that one that was grenaded was total driver stupidity.
  10. IDK about wrong, but the carrier was bigger and the ratios were off a few tenths of a turn from 92/93s .....oh, and if you were lucky enough to have one with the cam and wedges instead of spiders ? in 1999 they were over five grand to get rebuilt (lol) I thought I remembered something about the HP dictating you had to have them. I had a '97 with a 454. Had to have them. My 2000 with the 460 ? 92/93s . And the one that was destroyed was in a cutoff I swapped into the truck in my avatar (E9) and that was destroyed when the guy got it stuck dumping in a sand mound .
  11. CL frame was the same as the RW for the most part, except the set back axle part. I sometimes wondered why they never made an axle forward CL 🤔 Mack was on their kick then that if it was over 400 HP it had to have 200 series carriers E7s and E9s in the beginning then Cummins and E Techs were the popular power. Don't see many in service anymore, but they were pretty good trucks. Never quite had the appeal of the Superliner though.
  12. IDK the shape of your CL, but I've seen plenty of them in New York do it .
  13. You can't see it in that photo, but most of the penetration is in the back side
  14. That Mack has to be at least 50 years older than the trailer, and they look great together . Timeless beauty.
  15. Yikes. Lucky if it doesn't drop a valve shortly after. FYI, a hammer busts that fitting off a lot quicker than a wrench. Still if nothing happens right then and there, still likely valve train issues (that can be catastrophic) follow shortly. Maybe it's a good time to think about a major overhaul and new pump. Sounds like it's earned that, and I'm guessing you like the truck as it is (or was until this event)
  16. I bet I could get that truck to go pretty far pull'n a bucket with it. Get plenty of comments on how it sounds like it's miss'n as you pass most everything you come up on.......ahhhhh memories

I'm thinking Governor . Same concept. Funny thing, two years ago I never gave any though to it.
  18. IDK what they have on the floor of that truck, but I'd sure like to have my right foot on the floor of that truck pull'n a loaded MAC bucket 😍
  19. That truck is in nice shape for the age of it and looks fairly complete. Hope it finds it's way to a White enthusiast
  20. Small Cam. Not a 350. Hard to tell much more. That was a pretty nice truck in it's time AC power steering Jake extended hood. and look at that second ride enhancing shock .
  21. Like you said earlier, who knows what someone did to it. But that post from Ricky almost suggests something didn't work in the first place ??? Maybe it's how I read it. If it's not miss matched airlines or a leaky O ring ( odd it just started ) I'd consider checking where the shifter bolts on the top cover. Maybe something in there is wrong with the neutral gate ? Like that thing that looks like a torpedo maybe was damaged during the R & R of the shifter.
  22. Hi/low was not (?) working ? are you referring to the range valve ? (flipper on the front of the knob) or the blue button on the side ? I'm gonna guess this is a Fuller 8LL ?
  23. You're going to have to pressurize it to check it. It's a good sign it'll hold water, but a little heat and even a couple pounds of pressure ??? if it has issues, they'll show fast. No one here wants you to go for evaluation .
