  1. Not by any chance PAI ?
  2. Yes C4 don't be offended, but that truck staying upright was more luck than skill. That's no reflection on you either. I've seen springs sheer off, trunions break , never saw anything like that though. All same effect as far as driving it when it happens and it usually doesn't end well.
  3. That bolt in the picture should still be tight no matter. There's lots of it there too and shiny. End of the treaded part looks like any end of a bolt ?? Pad's pretty well past needing attention, but I've never seen something quite like this (lol) These mysteries are more addicting than crack
  4. I don't think this dude's ride is all that bad. Look at the saddle, it's not up too bad out of center on the trunion . It looks to have some grease residue around it too. I've seen lots of camel backs worn out and this isn't a typical failure. I'm curious why that one bolt is unscrewed ? Even if the bucket failed, that one bolt shouldn't be unscrewed and still fast into the housing ( if this picture isn't after removing it ) I still think Paul was on to something earlier in this thread.
  5. Good news. Cylinder bores that have a polished look , almost like chrome is an indication of wash down. In my opinion, you had a couple issues with that engine . Liners, and fuel. Cam and it's followers are the metering and timing, and it's easy enough to adjust excess play out in the overhead. Problem is it'll be out of time and it may vary from cylinder to cylinder. I have my doubts that engine ever ran on ultra low sulfur fuel too.
  6. Rolled O ring.... rust jacked O ring.... same effect. Gotta remember, these engines were never 55 + years old before. Even an 855 is getting a little long in the tooth. What did the inside of the liners look like ? Something was happening to that engine before you ever laid eyes on it, someone already put one piston in it at least .
  7. Be interesting to see this truck in person.
  8. IDK those tires don't look like they've been run on a worn out camelback. I'd guess the truck has a side torque rod at least on the rear ? and the leaf's main doesn't look polished from hitting the bucket ( but it's not a good picture to see all that ) Sometimes when they're that shot the little cover like a dog dish on the carrier bashes into the frame. Can't imagine what that would have felt like from the driver's seat..... yikes I'm with Paul on this one
  9. Now a CNC machine of some type can do what was once astronomically expensive work for basically nothing. Newer oils. Whole different thing in ways than 35 or 40 years ago even.
  10. It used to be a common thing for new engines to use oil.
  11. Joey..... it's sawdust in 140
  12. Ahhhhh......that's the good stuff, right into the larvae.
  13. Some of the stuff I remember from when I was a kid.... I had no idea what any of it was at the time, but as a kid being allowed to hang around and watch, you just took it all in and hoped you could crawl under the truck when someone dropped something.
  14. True story Joey. Told me it'd help the rings seat.
  15. Some guys used to use stuff called Copper Coat too . Of coarse the same one of those guys also told me Comet Cleanser would help a new engine if you sprinkled some in the intake 😳
  16. That looks like a plastic cap off plastic pipe. They're thick enough to put up with considerable PSIs for testing when you thread a hole drilled through it. Easily can hold enough to check for leaks.....and it's a cheap way to test. Onyx moonlights as a plumber 😃
  17. Gotta be careful with that. Sometimes , from what I understand that can lead to swollen glands and loss of rational thought.
  18. The one I saw was often on Route 322 in Pennsylvania. If I remember it was pulling a hopper. This was only a couple years ago. It was a working truck. A friend who was familiar with it told me it was an E9 and mentioned the Kenworth. This Kenworth was an extended hood W900 and I was told it had a 5EK Cat in it. That truck I often saw pulling a dump trailer. They were both painted the same (and looked fantastic) I used to have the Kenworth on my old phone as the wallpaper.... only cause I never saw the Mack sitting still. I'm certain if it wasn't wrecked 😳 it's around somewhere. They really are a classy looking truck.
  19. The blue and white one has a KW sibling painted the same. I think the name was " Good "
  20. The later 359 Peterbilts had a dash that resembles the dash in a C2 . That high MPH speedo reminds me of a Corvette speedometer.
  21. Hey ??? That 160 mph speedo ??? is that the original Corvette dash ?
  22. There was a blue and white one in Pennsylvania a few years back. I think they're a classy looking truck, let alone walking the walk with a E9.
  23. You're such a tease. You can't stop at two pictures of something like that.
  24. One thing's for sure, it wasn't going far without some problem in that general area. #1 is interesting. Makes me wonder if it was indeed overheated at some point and #1 tried doing that and someone threw a cylinder kit in it figuring it would live. Time to start measuring after a good cleaning. Don't forget, the cam is everything in ways. If it or the followers are worn, lots of times that can be adjusted out in the overhead. Then it's out of time and may be allowing too much fuel to enter the injector (especially if it has good rail pressure) and that's not good for a couple reasons. Looking at stuff is like an archeological dig, but the micrometer will tell the story.
  25. Something about that GMC sorta looks like those dogs you have.
