  1. You don't think a 673 would operate at 1020 RPMs 😂
  2. Just curious , do you understand how to start a cold diesel ? Cold engines need a rich fuel mixture . This means the throttle should be all the way to the floor during cranking !!!!!! BUT RELEASED AS ENGINE BEGINES TO FIRE !!!!!! this is a little tricky to master and only applies during cranking. Your description is pretty normal for a cold diesel engine. Like stated , nothing shy of a heated garage inside does the trick like an immersion heater. (fancy name for a block heater in case you find yourself searching and come across that name) Old Macks weren't the worst to get running in the cold, after it fires and runs by itself, it'll smoke (sorta whitish blue) and after a little idling adding a few hundred RPMs won't hurt ( @ 400 or so maybe somewhere around 1000 RPMs on the hand throttle ) Watch and make sure it has oil pressure and listen. It'll sound different than a 75 degree day for a bit. But after a little warm up, should sound about normal.
  3. What is it ? Looks like a 114 from the early '70s

Well need to keep an eye on him. If he starts showing signs of being offended by the best of biden thread.....well ??? that may signal a need for interventive action (s)
  6. What about the Diamond Reo ?

    What's that saying ????? If you can't beat'm.....join'm
  8. This guy didn't by any chance to go into a political career and become president ......
  9. Maybe the truck was at a point backed into something just right to hit the bucket and compromise it ???? Wouldn't take long to destroy the pad run'n it like that loaded .
  10. That fella Glenn mentioned almost experienced some ball lightening with that liner
  11. There's more to this story than we have knowledge of . Something isn't being told or something. It was worn and all, but by the picture, nothing too out of the ordinary.
  12. TMI........Yikes That's dedication to your job right there
  13. I remember the change to ULSD . Freed up crud hiding everywhere (lol) I'd imagine it didn't exactly help anything in an old PT pump or injectors. Probably wasn't anything to do with what happened , but new cylinder kits, be a good idea to freshen up the fuel delivery. a little two cycle oil....not a bad thing. only thing that'll hurt is AOC's feelings
  14. Have to see more of this truck. Something here doesn't add up.
  15. That one may need Boraxo
  16. Not by any chance PAI ?
  17. Yes C4 don't be offended, but that truck staying upright was more luck than skill. That's no reflection on you either. I've seen springs sheer off, trunions break , never saw anything like that though. All same effect as far as driving it when it happens and it usually doesn't end well.
  18. That bolt in the picture should still be tight no matter. There's lots of it there too and shiny. End of the treaded part looks like any end of a bolt ?? Pad's pretty well past needing attention, but I've never seen something quite like this (lol) These mysteries are more addicting than crack
  19. I don't think this dude's ride is all that bad. Look at the saddle, it's not up too bad out of center on the trunion . It looks to have some grease residue around it too. I've seen lots of camel backs worn out and this isn't a typical failure. I'm curious why that one bolt is unscrewed ? Even if the bucket failed, that one bolt shouldn't be unscrewed and still fast into the housing ( if this picture isn't after removing it ) I still think Paul was on to something earlier in this thread.
  20. Good news. Cylinder bores that have a polished look , almost like chrome is an indication of wash down. In my opinion, you had a couple issues with that engine . Liners, and fuel. Cam and it's followers are the metering and timing, and it's easy enough to adjust excess play out in the overhead. Problem is it'll be out of time and it may vary from cylinder to cylinder. I have my doubts that engine ever ran on ultra low sulfur fuel too.
  21. Rolled O ring.... rust jacked O ring.... same effect. Gotta remember, these engines were never 55 + years old before. Even an 855 is getting a little long in the tooth. What did the inside of the liners look like ? Something was happening to that engine before you ever laid eyes on it, someone already put one piston in it at least .
  22. Be interesting to see this truck in person.
  23. IDK those tires don't look like they've been run on a worn out camelback. I'd guess the truck has a side torque rod at least on the rear ? and the leaf's main doesn't look polished from hitting the bucket ( but it's not a good picture to see all that ) Sometimes when they're that shot the little cover like a dog dish on the carrier bashes into the frame. Can't imagine what that would have felt like from the driver's seat..... yikes I'm with Paul on this one
  24. Now a CNC machine of some type can do what was once astronomically expensive work for basically nothing. Newer oils. Whole different thing in ways than 35 or 40 years ago even.
