  1. Drove a few R models with that style pump. 2nd or 3rd was what I used depending how heavy a load was in the box. I prefer the rear mount Mack PTO tho...
  2. Looks normal to me.....
  3. Look for simple things first ... Replace fuel filter, check that the throttle lever has not slipped around the pump shaft, make sure it has full travel...if that's good check for good boost pressure. inspect turbo for broken fins. After that you will need to start looking at the pump and compression levels...
  4. Thinking you will need good tow hooks if you go this way. Never seen a good tandem rear on/off road truck with a dead axle.
  5. If they are anything like the cat trucks here in IL they will spend more time in he shop than on the road?
  6. Yeah high hoods only give you 1/2 the view when inside... However They are nice to see these days rolling by as all the modern locomotives just look the same. I saw the E5 was out of the shed wonder why it was parked?
  7. Yea if I know you had some pull with getting in the locomotive cab I would have been there with ya... LOL.... Truck was looking good. We only stayed for a little over an hour this year. We took our 65' Cadillac to the show as we stayed by some friends in Crystal lake last night. Went in had lunch, stopped over by the trucks to see some friends real quick. Got a quick look at the Frisco then went home for a nice Sunday afternoon nap. What a great Day!
  8. Saw your truck at IRM this afternoon. Looking good.
  9. Is that basically what we have in the US known as the Titan? Nice looking truck.
  10. I remember seeing a N model Volvo running around northern IL. Was a tractor hauling a end dump. That thing was always holding up traffic. Seams a lot of bean counters like the Volvo brand. I was working for my former employer last week at a race track. Seams. 70% of the race haulers were late model Volvo sleeper cabs. Very few American made trucks were in the paddock
  11. My previous employer had 2 1997 internationals with 3406e cats/18 speeds and 2 2002 c15 cats/18 speeds. Only major issue was one of the 1997 trucks needed a new cam at 400,000 miles. We did the cups as well while they were in there.
  12. Every state has its own laws, but many share the same rules, just written differently. What state are you in? We likely have a member here from your state than can give a better answers based on that.
  13. Good idea for the dump valve. We have the same set up on a spread axle and it pivots on the forward axel. Makes tight turns much better.
  14. If I can make a suggestion before you paint it... The muffler to cab brackets are a real pita to keep the stacks straight. It looks like your passenger stack is already a little crooked. I gave up trying to straighten mine out and made my own cab brackets that hold my 5" pipes. I deleted the roof rail bracket and it seams to be much better. Truck looks great....
  15. Poor fleet drivers in big city traffic...that damm alarm will be on all day if your driving around Chicago. To me it's a false sense of security unless your backing up.
  16. Chatted with him a few months back... he sounds busy as ever.....
  17. Same here. I will drive miles past my local one just so I won't ever be seen in that place. LOL I live in a bigger city where I have a few options for shopping. Some small towns wall Matt is all you have....
  18. R models had single and double frame options . You could also spec a single frame in different thickness. Some of the offset cab models and heavy spec R models had frames that got much thicker behind the cab. In my opinion. Look for a RD686 or 688 that is more of a medium spec construction truck. If speced like most RDs it should have a heavy frame, more ground clearance, geared for on/off road, heavy driveline and proper axel specs for what most guys used these trucks for. That's not to say that a standard R686 or 688 won't do the job...It just won't have the more robust off road options as a RD
  19. Increadable detail my friend... Are you entering this into a model contest?
  20. pumps normally are oil supplied by a oil line comming off the engine or simply splash lubracated. they simply drain back into the engines crank case thru the timing cover. no need to drain the oil from them when you remove it.
  21. Looksgreat...........Don't scratch it!
