  1. it use to be parked out on the farm off gilmer Rd
  2. looks like a superliner northern il Mack had? Edit...just looked at a pic I have from 2006? And looking at the stacks it looks like it could have been at the lake county truck pulls. Think it was a nil Mack truck?
  3. Wow , very nice , who makes the western kit? Nice job on the details ... I see straight frame rails just like the real thing...not a lot of stock parts in your build!
  4. Hopefully Al sees this. (Member Name: 57 BCR) I think his friend had a R700 painted like this. As a kid I saw it running past my house for years. A real head turner for a dump truck. Personally I like when the stripes go around the rear of the cab. When they stop it looks unfinished in my opinion. I painted a 1/87 scale Mack into these colors for display on my train layout. Let's see some pics of your model...
  5. Is there any true Mack dealerships lift around here? Northern IL Mack sold a few years back to CIT. Looks like Chicago Mack sold to M&K. Seams like all the old dealerships have sold out or jumped ship to now selling Volvos. Is there any true Mack dealers left around here?
  6. Seams the OTR driver employment retention is just a revolving door. The only way to change that is to improve pay or improve conditions.
  7. You Have 5 reverse gears. Compound in reverse and then 1-5 on the main. You can do about 25 mph backing up if your good...
  8. Unless it has a Mack pto...then you keep the compound in gear and put the main in neutral.
  9. RD is a tough old truck and will do great with anything you throw at it. It's just loud and has a little rough of a ride. In my opinion the R model was one of the best if not the best mack ever built.
  10. Experience tells me a straight truck always gets into a tighter spot. And let's face it 90% of dumpsters are delivered by straight trucks. Depending on your state that trailer might not have the needed length for much more payload vs a roll off with a pusher.?
  11. Your springs are flat!
  12. I say every cop should stay out of the ghettos for a few days and show these idiots why they are needed.
  13. Good info terry. Hope some of the older members get it sorted out. It was great when HQ was leaving it alone. They had lots of smart people over there dedicated to all truck and engine makes. I will check them out soon.
  14. Years ago the old ATHS fourm was just as good as this one. Then a few hard heads messed it up, forced a change and imposed new restrictions...needless to say they ruined it and last I recall someone started a stand alone fourm but in my opinion by that time all the well versed truck collectors and historians had enough, myself included.
  15. Oh. I thought this was about the trucks ATHS " own" or wanted to sell.....I left that organization after all the trouble they gave the message fourm participants and political issues.
  16. What did those clowns do now? Sounds like a select few are still destroying that organization?
  17. Looks good. I fabed up that same set up on my RS700L. I have air ride cab now so had to mount the stack bottoms to a y pipe then add flex under the cab. I also did not use the roof rail mount as it was causing issues in the sheet metal and I could never get the stacks to be perfectly straight.
  18. Check waterlevel first, If level is ok it's possible the fan clutch is stuck on. If that is working ok replace the stat with a new one. If its real cold out a winter front does wonders. I used one on my R model and it kept that engine right at 180 even at idle.
  19. I have seen a few rd's with 36" sleepers. What was odd is of the 5 or 6 I have seen 2 were car haulers with the rack over the top of the cab.
  20. Today's RR crossings have computer circuits that will judge the speed of a train . Just throwing a pipe across the rails won't gt crossing gates to lower or a signal to drop to red. You would have to find the isolated sections of rail and short them all to fool the signal system computer into thinking a tran had passed. Todays signal systems are complex and they are built to avoid faulty signals and train location reporting....laying a pipe across May have worked 30 years ago but not in today's world.
  21. Larry i Have the same issues still. I replaced the foot valve, slacks, cans,s cams, shoes, all hard ware. Removed the anti lock air valve. Truck will still not stop like it should. I checked air pressed at the chambers and it's correct. I gave up as its jist a parade truck now.
  22. I always get out and raise the neck if it looks like I will bottom out. Had to do it today over a set of tracks that we're kinda steep. I raised it 2" off the stops and it still dragged for a second. I hate that feeling
  23. Another thing to check is to make sure the hose connection between truck and trailer is good. One time I did not have the hose end screws down all, the way and the bed was slow to go up and down.. Just another thought...
  24. correct. Early Tip turbine motors with the under hood filter housing.
  25. I saw that water truck a while ago. Think it was at ohare inside the airport.
