  1. Haven't seen there dmm in years...wondered if they still had it...
  2. That looks like a nice classy ride....good times
  3. It looked a little long for what it is... I think the emissions crap hanging on the frame is why.... Personally for what we do around Chicago I would want it as short as possible but allow it to axel out. It was a very clean looking truck and who ever did the build did a good job...
  4. Found a steel nose Greco r model. ..A sid kamp 4 axel...and a standard r model end dump
  5. Whats the weight difference between a steel hood and fiberglass hood r model
  6. drove many 300/6 speed 4.17 rears on camelback R models with chrome dogs... this were in the 1985-1992 range. My 77 RS700L has a gold dog I think people like to change the dogs for preference. For me I prefer the Gold Dog
  7. that think hooks! I would love to take that car out on the street and surprise some people LOL....I need to get back into drag racing. I haven't been to the track at all after I bought my old Cadillac.
  8. that's a sharp looking western.... love to color and alum wheels all the way around. Something about the little more aluminum trim really sets them apart from a standard R model. Must have been a tight fit with the 36" bunk on. I know my RS sitting at 206" is getting tight with a gen box on the nose of the trailer. I don't think I could safely pull a 53' refer unit with a bunk on back? When I hauled a race car transporter back from road America the Gen box would touch the pogo stick and that's where the end of my bunk would have been. I had to pull the stick out to get it home with no scratches on the box.....my 5th wheel was at 6" ahead of center.....
  9. Yea 349 ...it was a nice day for a drive out west. Monday I have a move from Rockford to Oregon. I'm looking forward to another 2 lane back road trip.
  10. Make sure to watch part 2 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_i28SSEfzUk&feature=youtube_gdata_player
  11. We went from joliet patten to builders materials yard at I88 and main street in kanesville...(east of dekalb) did the zig zag with the oversize
  12. We saw your big head hanging out the window lol...
  13. Saw this guy running up I294 around 2:30 today
  14. Glad you made it out ok...if I wasn't loaded with a 13'6 machine I would have dropped down the 4 blocks to say hello real quick. But that part of town sucks for low bridges.
  15. Jail the sob....one less terrorist for me to worry about
  16. Ok thanks for the info....it seamed like a bunch of people were leased on then gone within a few years of the upset... I remember leach enterprises had a big sign out front saying to avoid them....this was about 10 years go?
  17. What was the story about Terra Cotta. I remember seeing a lot of trucks with that name on dump trailers then I recall there was a big stink about boycotting them.
  18. Hmmm yea ....look at that website I told you about with all the bridge height info for Chicago...http://www.cityofchicago.org/content/dam/city/depts/cdot/bridge/general/PostedClearances072312.pdf If your going to the entrance on 63rd street you have a 13'8 to the west and13'6" to the east.. Unless they have an exit to the south but I don't see one on google maps....are you picking up a crane in the yard or is it just west of their yard... They have been knocking down old rr bridges and making a new RR interchange near by and if your lucky it will be just west of the NS yard and you will be ok...
  19. I run 2 in my truck....as long as its not very cold out and the charging system is in good shape. 2 is all you need? I use the passenger side batt box for storage now...
  20. Loaded or empty, oversized? ..i.I think the main entrance is off 63rd street? If that's they NS yard your talking about...they are doing lots of construction west of the yard by I94 and wentworth. If your legal and If your coming from I-80 take 57north to 94 west exit 59th and go back over the expressway then take the east94 frontage rd ( south yale) back to 63rd st. I think 63rd is 13'8" under all the rail road tracks. The bridges down that way can get narrow for over sized stuff... If your coming from I-88 , you have some options to zig zag to get to the south side....I would take 88 to 294 south to 55 north to 94 east. Little longer more tolls but less traffic. Exit 63rd and make a left at the top of the ramp follow 63 to the yard..on your right. Or do I-88 to 290 east thru downtown to 94 east to 63rd...this way will have more traffic but less tolls.
  21. Saw your truck at Rantoul IL last summer...real nice looking R Model
  22. I quit ATHS after the message board take over and the issues with the board got out of control.... I think people lost sight of what its members wanted....there was a whole thread here on this subject... It's sad because there was a lot of good people with a wealth of info that got lost with the issues ATHS has..
  23. Take a wrench, put in a vice, heat with a torch and bend it where needed. Those 2 inside bolts are a pita they always come louse too....
  24. Sad....they were a big player in rail cars...not sure if they matched pullman but a larg company for sure....were they in any Any relation to the "budd" style truck wheel?
