  1. Are you sure it's a 2100 rpm engine?.....Mack made a 300L " L" as in low rpm. I think they were governed to max 1700 rpm.
  2. Hated the 2060/2070/2080 transmissions. All seamed to be behind a low rpm engine with real slow rear ends. It gave you no options besides replace the trans, the rear ends and up the rpm to 2100. At work we have a RD lowboy truck e7 400 with a 8LL and 4.17 rears. That truck pulls 100k+ with ease. Only thing better would be a trans with more reverse gears.
  3. Why do you have a seismograph in your truck? Looks like a very long earth quake?
  4. I saw Ernie's has the former northern IL Mack tow truck painted up...it was sitting out side the other day. Regarding the flipped trash truck...about a month ago at that same spot I watched a ups semi truck heading down the on ramp to 53 south with his trailer door rolled up... Right before he entered the high way 2 skids fell out the back, he kept going never saw it. The ramp was littered with boxes lol...
  5. And I bet that r model could out pull the electronic ch
  6. If you want email me the pic... Lmackattack@hotmail.com
  7. Mid 70s R600 model hoods were about 2" shorter than mid 80's and later R600....this was to make room for the front mount intercooler A pic might help just by looking to see the body line around the rear of the fender area.
  8. http://www.analysis-inc.com/reference/road-speed-calculator/ 4.33 rear ratio, .60 final drive, 11R22.5 tires (498rpm) If you have a 2100 rpm engine 97 mph If you have a 1800 rpm engine 83 mph Personally with a low rpm engine I would keep the truck with 4.33 so you have more road speed.
  9. I was look over his truck and thought it was a little odd that it was speced with camelback rears....most new lowboy trucks are all air ride. At least he won't get stuck
  10. Yep that was me. I parked next to him, was picking up a combination going to a chemical plant in Lemont. When I pulled up He was trying to fit both those machines on and having to reposition them to make it work. I gave him some eyes so he did not have to keep jumping out to check clearance for the goose neck.
  11. Looks like a standard rs700l hood to me?
  12. Think it's always parked inside his shop now....before it was always outside sitting near the fence off rt12
  13. Are you sure it's a 300? Most 300 had a 5 or 6 speed behind them. 350s had transmission options of 8 or more gears. Regardless they are pretty much bullet proof engines...considered the Chevy 350 of Mack motors. Anyone can work on them and parts are cheap
  14. R Jones R model always is clean I honestly done remember a time I saw it when it was dirty. That truck is always looking good!
  15. I run a 300 mechanical all day at work. 2100 rpm up and down the hi way no problem. For years people ran these engines flat foot untill they needed rebuild. If you have the gears and can cruise them on the hi way around 1700 it's better but 2100 won't hurt them at all.
  16. Yea they recently put in a 2nd track on the old ej&e main... Think its a siding . I brought a dozer to tower rd where they made made a retention pond.
  17. I live 5 miles south of there on 83 few weeks back I brought 2 machines to the CN near the old leithton junction.First pic shown of the tower that guarded the junction. You can see a string of cars in the background. If you go to the left that's where 83 and diamond lake road is http://www.google.com/search?q=leithton+tower&safe=off&client=safari&hl=en&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ei=I1F4UqnuLuTeyAH7uIC4CA&ved=0CAcQ_AUoAA&biw=1024&bih=672#biv=i%7C3%3Bd%7Cx97mv3-Kyw6U5M%3A http://www.flickr.com/photos/7547061@N02/5006308791/
  18. Amazing how much Mack has done and built for our country. Trucks, busses, military, trains,
  19. Tanzillo #1 R700 edwards rd dmm lime truck
  20. Lol....did someone spray some sent on that truck that attracts deer? Glad your ok. 5 years ago I hit a deer on Christmas eve. It was snowing ,about 11 pm , flat land 2 lane road ,just jumped out of no where. I think he was hiding behind a tree lol.....sounded like someone threw a basked ball at the cars hood. It took out the left headlight and minor body damage. We got lucky
  21. Replace air gov or check signal line. Simple fix
  22. 2100 loaded 2300 no load...per Mack's specs They will turn faster but valve float will become an issue. I don't know exactly where that happens. But suspect around 2700-3000 Our sled puller turns around 2500 and was told to not spin it faster.
  23. Machines and chains are weird. For example I moved a cat 314 excavator today. Chained the boom and put binders on all 4 corners. Tight as I could. When I got to the job 2 of the binders were slightly louse. You just cantw always get the all the slack out of the tracks untill you crank down on them a few times after you have driven a few miles. Dozers I put blade rearward and in the center of the deck. This is for weight balance and ease of loading and unloading getting it centered on the deck. Combination and rubber tire always go bucket into the goose neck...regardless what some book says. Real world experience is what works best for me. But that's just my .02 To me this pic looks like a few issues. 1 Lack of chains or binders? 2 the machine did not have a good parking brake 3 he really hit those brakes hard for it to slide up and over like that.
  24. I like to load rubber tire loaders down with the bucket pushed into the neck. Just like Peter did in his pic. Yea it's one extra step in the secure process but I like knowing the bucket is helping keep the machine from moving forward. Not to mention when you are hauling forks and a bucket. It keeps it in view and again easy to chain to the deck.one other thing, I wish all of the mfg of these machines would put d rings on the arm of these loaders. It would allow you to secure the arm and machine with just 2 chains/binders. Same at the rear. Some mfg put pick up points at the rear lower corners that really make securing them down safe and easy but not all mfg have the d rings at the rear.
  25. Yea, saw it for sale on eBay a few years back .i don't recal who owns it or if a member here sold it...
