  1. can't remember the location buy I recall it being a boat factory before Mack bought it?
  2. Sen them in use . They look like the can move a lot of snow quickly...the ones I saw in use had follow cars to keep idiots from trying to pass them....
  3. If I recall the passenger side air cleaner mounting aera has a steel plate behind the cab sheet metal for reinforcement. You may want to do the same on the drivers side. Also standard r models had an 2" indent on the passenger side to help get the air cleaner from sticking out to far. Most superliner cabs do not have this and the dual air cleaners will sit symmetrical. Not sure if it will be noticeable but just a heads up... Your driver side door will need stops welded to the hinges to prevent the door from opening into the filter housing. and watch your vent window if it can swing open 90 deg as it may make contact even with the stops welded in... If you do it right it will look cool with dual stacks
  4. Congrats Steve.....anyone also notice dan was mentioned with his out back valuliner he imported
  5. Dynamat helps but to get the noise level down you really need a thick pad 1 or 2" thick to go under the floor and of the firewall. We just did a r model that I drive with dynamat on the floor, roof and rear wall. ( still need to do The firewall.) it helped some but it is nowhere near as quiet as my rs700 with a thick insulation pad on the floor and firewall. Search for the stuff used on generator boxes to quiet them down.
  6. I could have used this new form of water repellant the last few weeks....Been nothing but rain, snow, salt and road spray
  7. All depends how pitted or dull they are... If they are scratched to hell you need to sand them first. It's a real pita.....if they are just dull pick up a few cloth buffing wheels and some bars. work your way down with the grit.... Once they are starting to look good hit them with some white diamond and the buffer wheel.... White diamond is the best I have used so far... It does not get hard like the purple stuff does... It just seams more. User friendly especially when your doing it by hand.
  8. Just about everything just depended on what model Mack
  9. 500psi...wow! .would have thought 150psi for older early boilers.....
  10. I saw that at the Iowa 80. Was very Cool
  11. What's the boiler pressure on the old tractors.....is it as high as late model steam locomotives....250-300 psi?
  12. I installed a sheapperd steering box off a rs600 onto my rs700... I had the same manual steering box as you... All I had to do is drill a few holes and add spacers for the power steering box? If I recall i used 2 or 3 of the factory holes in the front spring hanger... Installed a power steering pump from an 80's vintage r model. The type that fits to the back of the air compressor and ran lines to a frame mounted resivor...
  13. I pulled a frameless hilbilt that would raise real high...the rear rear tractor wheels could touch the forward trailer axel when the box was up... The slop in the 5thwheel showed that the trailer was trying to go over center when pulling forward.... I bet he had the same set up to do that.....we call it " rocket man"
  14. Saw a guy that did this ...frameless end dump...he thought the load was stuck. Backed up and stabbed the brakes...trailer lifted tractor off the ground...trailer sat straight up in the air with tailgate on the ground....
  15. Is that what that switch there does....
  16. Best AC unit found in an r model was the rear wall red dot. It would freeze you out and I had to put all the vents towards the passenger side. Worst part is you would bang your elbow on the dam thing looking for 3rd or 5th
  17. Sorry about that.... What color is your superliner?. Need to see a pic so I know who we're talking about....hell brian sees me all the time and I just drive by himwith my nose in the air. Lol.. ......I saw a gray superliner down near the refinery on near new ave and 355 on Thursday. Waved at him...
  18. Finally saw you while I was awake...I made a mad dash from pattens yard to make it to the green arrow. As I was grabbing gears I was looking at the Pete and saying i think that's Brian's.....I saw your guy on the side of the road waiting for you looked like that was going to be fun trying to load him up but if he was able to move that's half the battle....I try to move over for stranded people when ever I can. It's no fun trying to strap something down with 70mph traffic going past you...
  19. If I recall the early version 12 speed was a 2 stick...i think the 2nd stick was just for the deep reduction used in 1st....the splitting was still done with the splitter on the main stick?Someone chime in if I wrong...
  20. Saw a dump truck parked with his box up the other day....looked like he had a load of frozen sand not one bit came out while it was all they way up.... Rookie?
  21. That will look nice in Mack red
  22. I respect his effort and it is his to do so but the results are of a pretty poor looking r model.....this is why we don't chop truck cabs....the look like toys when your done....even most cars look goofy when chopped but this one takes the cake... Just my.02
  23. Only has 3 posts and looks like all pertain to this thread... You may try a private messages hopes he sees it in his email or next time he logs on... Meanwhile can you share with us about your uncle and his trip with this beautiful Ford Truck. Great topic kscarbel
  24. I got a hold of the diamond tuck with buttons out of a valuliner. The door panels have dogs stamped into them and also sport the diamond tuck. I think it was one of the nicer interior options Mack has ever done. Would have liked to have found the dogs with a hat but it's cools hey way it is...
