  1. There are some very cool Macks in Johnstown. ;-) Of course, the coolest ones belong to Maverick.
  2. That is a cool sounding motor, but being raised hearing a 673 running I would rather hear the Mack. Strictly nostalgia.
  3. I'll bet a 4-71 with 5 cars behind it would be a real snail!
  4. It's a great project...Keith S is doing a careful, quality build. I like the idea but he'll have to have a CD of a 673 running through the gears while he's driving it.
  5. I like your philosophy on the Dupont overhauls. What was welded to the back of the cab?
  6. As you show in step 3, torque to 50 lb. ft. and back off until the lock ring will slide on. After you torque the locknut, there is preload on the bearing.
  7. They were special edition trucks...see below.
  8. Looks like you've got some work ahead of you.
  9. Slack in the bearings will cause excessive wear and vibration...you want them snug as shown in Keith S's procedure.
  10. I think they call that a transplanter or a spade...this truck is just to move them around after they've been cut or dug up.
  11. Boy the hood sure is long on those guys. The fuel pump on that 1674 sure looks bass ackwards, driven off the rear of the motor.
  12. That's a neat looking truck!
  13. Looks like you've been busy! Version 2, huh...you're already planning to build another eMack?
  14. This is a great album, GA Dave. Speaking as an H model fan, I wish there had been more H model fire trucks built.
  15. Here's an NOS Brockway vent, looks nice and it's $45 with free shipping. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Brockway-truck-cowl-vent/323120233308?_trkparms=aid%3D111001%26algo%3DREC.SEED%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20160727114228%26meid%3De5f1c6e0a2bf46efb05ec1bd413e719f%26pid%3D100290%26rk%3D2%26rkt%3D4%26sd%3D162919190735%26itm%3D323120233308&_trksid=p2060778.c100290.m3507
  16. That cab looks pretty good, it's a good thing it's not near me or I would probably do something stupid. The rear suspension looks like a mess! Those old Dodges look cool from a nostalgia standpoint, but whoever designed that cab should have been taken out behind the woodshed.
  17. Can't say that I like it. https://altoona.craigslist.org/grd/d/1979-mack-grain-dump-truck/6466659563.html
  18. Turboscan, did you measure that spline diameter?
  19. Looks like she's done that a few times. She's the prettiest truck driver I've seen in a long time.
  20. It may have been bad before, then parts got worn or replaced it made the vibration show up.
  21. Glad to know I'm not the only one who does things like that.

    Road Closed

How could you even get by without a bucket tractor? There's no way you could dig all that out by hand.
  23. Yeah, I wouldn't pay 5k unless everything else was in super nice shape. Looks like the rust is pretty bad.
  24. Good to hear, let us know how it turns out.
