BIG Dump Trucks

Recommended Posts

I saw those trucks in Nashville at Rogers when they were getting bodies, heavy trucks for sure. The Allison is way up and above better than he mdrive for off road applications, there are m drives being replaced already in on road apps. That 0 thrust tolerance single shaft automated manual transmission would go to pieces hauling heavy off road.

They can't keep an mdrive together on the highway, they would need a lot of work to use off road. Has anybody here ever had to slip a clutch in a dump truck to go super slow? You can't with an automated manual, the Allison's torque converter let's you creep.

Our owner of 44 years said the RD800 series was one of the best trucks Mack ever made - plenty of them still up in the coal fields of Kentucky, Virginia and West Virginia as well as plenty of DM800's - all 65 bogies. WE have had good experience with the M-Drive - had a customer bought 16 last year and 40 this year for tanker application. Have not seen a lot of issues in the shop either.

The RD800 was definitely a badass truck, probably the only badder looking mack is the Bigfoot in Australia and they went the route of the 800 too.
