    I drove a DM dump for about 10 years with a 237 and a quad, had no problems, but I was the only driver, just don't lug it like a 5 or 6 speed, keep the rpm's up you will be fine, also don't be shy about using lo-lo in the quad. terry

    The way the 5th wheel is behind that axle that is showing it must be a tandem. terry Looked at the pics again,don't look all that bad, looks like mostly surface rust.

    Another question is liner condition on the piston that let loose. terry

    711 pistons and rings maybe a little hard to find, they are a little bigger than a 673 engine, a running 711 or even a running 237 is a gamble on how long it will run, there are a ton of B models out there repowerd with the 237. 237 parts will be more common. I guess it all boils down if you want it original. terry

    Is your existing frame good? If so add what you want to back of frame and unbolt trunnion and slide back, I don't know how much you are adding, but this way alot of the time you can have your weld in the trunnion bolt area, helps reinforce the weld area. terry

    A full 44 rear used to be the cast housings and six spoke hub, a 38 is the fabricated housing with the five spoke hub, and the only difference in a 34 and 38 were the number and thickness of the springs. terry

    Everybody that I know that bought a used truck with them changed them before doing anything else, I have worked on them, If everything is new they work real good, but a lot of small parts to fail. terry

    Don't know the model no. but some B models did come with a chrysler motor from the factory. terry Think i got the 413 in a B mixed up with the early R models !

    I have seen a 38 and a 44 housings on the same tandem before. terry

    34k and 38k rears main difference is number and thickness of the spring leaves, And spring pads and caps. 34k,38kand 44k diffs are all the same. terry
