  1. Wait... Let me get this straight the Tread Trooper saw you a half hour earlier and chases you down to give to a cell phone ticket? I'd do a FOIL request for the time he finished the previous stop and the mileage between the rest stop and where he pulled you over. You'll be able to show that he drove well over the posted limit to catch you and then make sure his supervisor knows that his guys are chasing down folks at 100+ MPH to write nonsense tickets. 2. I'm not sure... If it's a 1971 and the body is original, it's not a FDNY spec body for the year. in the early '70's I'm nearly positive that the drivers side would have had compartments as low as the officers side and there would have been two or three lengths of hard suction over the wheel well. I don't think FDNY started buying Mack engines with full height driver side compartments until the Ward79's much later on. I could be wrong though so feel free to correct me.
  3. FDNY ran one of these as Rescue 6 (I believe it was donated after 9-11-01) during the fall of 2004 when the RNC was in town. R6 is not a regularly operated company for the FDNY and I believe has only been reactivated for a handful of events since 2004.
  4. Lady & Taylor in Heidlersburg (Gettysburg) will paint it and do a very good job. 2 issues.... They're 2 hours from you, and active fire apparatus repair is their priority so it may take some time.
  5. Continental Compac fire apparatus used that cab as well. Cab was great, the conversion to fire apparatus was junk...
  6. Looks like a grouper to me. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. You have two posts on this discussion board. Neither one were productive to the conversation, and you appear to want to get a reaction out of FWD. Why not state your agenda and why you've chosen to crawl out of your hole just to stir the pot in this particular thread, instead of cryptic bullshit like "the guilty know who they are"... You're the one who cast bait with your first post. Man up.
  8. There is a YouTube clip that argues the opposite.... That Limiters kill... If you're always running against a limiter (which most people will if they're put into effect) then there is no power left for an emergency situation. Good ole Benny Parsons narrating.
  9. My wife, our 6 year old, and I were just discussing this at the breakfast table. We will be taking a bike ride over to the War Memorials by the Winter Park FL VA clinic on Monday and doing some decorating. Our biggest pet peeve about this weekend is that everyone is so damn happy to have an extra day off from work and a big BBQ that they don't take the time to say a prayer and remember those who are the entire reason behind the creation of the holiday to begin with.
  10. Mine was repowered long before I bought it. It's reliable, sounds good, and has all the power I need. The 671 powered Aussie B was a nice rig. Guy coulda used a little more touch on his shifting that road ranger through the lower ratios.
  11. Search YouTube for "Mack Air Starter" and a bunch of videos from Australia come up including a Superliner E9 with an air starter.
  12. The truck looks awesome... I'd leave the spokes black if you can, and possible add a hint of chrome on the hardware or the rim... If they were more modern wheels the chrome center cap and lugs would be a nice way to go.
  13. Paul... Although I'm sure that car is a blast on the quarter mile, the original suspension setup and 4 wheel disc brake option on the SVO combined with the lightweight 4 pot motor would make it soooo much more fun on a road course. You'll have several near you... VIR and Summit Point to name a pair.... But I'm sure that you'll have fun at the strip... There is nothing nastier than turbo noise as they spool up.
  14. Speaking of Mack school busses, I'm nearly positive that Chappaqua (NY) Transportation owned by Joan Corwin had an B-Model school bus that they kept for years and her husband (Seth I think) would occasionally drive it. Anyone familiar?
  15. My mother in law is on her 4th Gelandewagen here in the states. They are a ton of fun to drive off road and will go anywhere the boys the the big jacked up Jeeps and Pickups will... Not to mention the latest generation V8 is a rocketship.
  16. The article mentions +/- 2000 forward control and CKD B model units that I'm not sure I'm aware of. Anyone have photos and/or descriptions?
  17. I've driven rigs with 2-speed rears over the years but it escapes me on how an automatic coupled to a 2-speed would operate. Do you manually hold the main transmission in each gear while shifting the rear, then select the next range on the main transmission.... Is the 2-speed shifting automated too? I'm confused.
  18. Just curious... I used to see L series MB's hauling mail all over the NY metro area but haven't seen one on the road in years... Anyone ever drive one? Anyone still know of any in service?
