  1. Any chance it's backfiring through the turbo? Just a stab in the dark. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. Is that the aluminum V8 that eventually ended up tooled as a 3.9L in Rover products? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. Thanks guys. My mom came from NY to ride out the rest of the cold for a month or so and it was my first birthday with our third child and first girl Sadie Ruth born three weeks ago yesterday. I had an awesome day. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. I grew up in the next town over. Was captain of the FD and have plenty of folks that could check it out for you. PM me and we will see what we can do. Maddog is 25 min south as well. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. The only thing I really like to hear on a diesel p/u is the turbo.... Not even loud either... I just like to hear it spool up under acceleration. Not a fan of the sewer pipe exhausts and wanna be stacks.... On a classic OTR rig, I feel differently about the music that straight pipes make.
  6. Yes and no.... That is an original tandem axle B model, just not a fire truck. It was originally a commercial or municipal truck.... Factory B model fire trucks and chassis did not come with step or saddle fuel tanks. It had the tanker box and pump put on it it after it retired from its original intended service in the late 1970's.
  7. Here is a B85FSW I found on the interweb...
  8. While I'm not sure, and wouldn't challenge the Museum data for B85FSW's, there were only two B95FSW's made entirely at the Mack factory. One of them went to my old department, Millwood, NY and the other went to Gallery Chemical Co. near Pittsburgh the same year. I rode on this rig to my first fire in 1993. B95FSW 1144 was in service with the Millwood Fire Company from 1959 until 1994/1995 when replaced by a 3600gal Kenworth Pumper/Tanker. Original thread about the Millwood rig is linked below as well as pictures. http://www.bigmacktrucks.com/index.php?/topic/29336-millwood-ny-b95fsw-1144-ex-engine-245/?hl=millwood
  9. Paul, You and I will most likely never meet in person. At my 38 years, you are probably old enough to be my father and frankly, it feels disrespectful to chime in as a result... But I have one thing I'd like you to consider based on some of my NY friends (I grew up in northern Westchester) experience... Please ask your attorney about his/her success in winning successful judgements for men. NYS isn't a friendly place for a conservative male to go through a divorce. You need someone with that on their side considering your businesses, multiple properties in NY and beyond and the fact that she (if I recall) is an RN and not exactly going to have a problem working moving forward. I am so sorry for this loss in your life, your kids, and your grandkids. My family will pray for your protection and healing considering the awful way that this was presented to you. Regards -Ed- Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  11. http://bringatrailer.com/2015/02/12/ex-dakar-kamaz-49252-race-truck/ Would make a bitchen camper/toy hauler Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. Ok... Call me crazy but why incur the expense for the drome box to slide to the back of the tractor. Why not put a roll up door on the front of the trailer and a flip-over diamond plate ramp to the drome box and unload the whole thing at once. Less time, less movement of the truck (safer too), less complex without the mechanical system to slide the drome.... etc etc... But what do I know. EDIT: Sorry Tim... I didn't fully read your post and basically duplicated it.
  13. Right but my whole thing is... The job is what the job demands. If the truck has manual landing gear, trailer attachment, manual transmission, non air ride seat, gauges behind your head... Then that is the job. If people want work male or not those are the conditions. Frankly it's the reason why someone on the other side of the pacific makes a good percentage of what or countrymen own. 14. .... And let's just make the whole setup so you don't ever have to break those pretty nails... No need to touch the landing gear or greasy fifth wheel... Pathetic. My wife shops at Bloomingdales and Neiman Marcus but she knows how to hitch a trailer and look good doing it. She packed grease into bearing races with me on after our second date! I won't share this development with her as she'd be pissed. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. I went to college in Gettysburg right up the road from Mount St. Mary's. Used to go to the liquor store right off US Route 15 to buy on Sundays.... Also to eat at the Ott House or Stavros Pizza... Or we ran first due with our ladder truck to Emmitsburg as well... Until they bought a tower ladder.... Nothing like running balls to the wall on 15 in the middle of the winter.... You'd freeze your ass off for the first few minutes, nice and warm for the next few minutes, then burning up hot by the time you rolled into town with that detroit in the dog box next to you.
  16. Very very cool..... http://bringatrailer.com/2015/02/05/ex-air-force-1957-fwd-mm-terracruzer/
  17. Looks pretty straight and at least on the outside, rust free for something sitting in the weeds.
  18. Rectangular headlights were a signature modification that Lady & Taylor / Pennsylvania Fire Apparatus would do on a refurb.... They may know where the rig is... 717-528-4196
  19. Paul sorry for all the questions but I'm so intrigued.... Is this car getting paint and interior or retaining as-is look. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. Pictures all the way... Please! Are you going to put a steering wheel from a new car in there that incorporates factory paddle shifters or are you going to make your own Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. Paul that's hilarious... In my college days I have to admit that I'd have probably tried to float a couch if I had the opportunity.
  22. So true.... In my neighborhood, trash is Monday and Thursday (CRAP I forgot to put it out this morning) and on Sunday in the late afternoon the Beverly Hillbilly pickups start trolling the neighborhood and picking stuff up to fix/sell.
  23. The 53 series diesel wasn't introduced until the late 1950's so there is no doubt that this thing was re-powered. Good chance it came with an ALF built Lycoming V-12 gasser or a Continental 8cyl gasser originally.
