  1. Check this thread for R model parts http://www.bigmacktrucks.com/index.php?/topic/38575-saved-a-load-of-parts-from-export/
  2. Guys looking for a little help here... Vlad I will also PM you about this too. A buddy and I are looking to import a 1982 MB GD300... Pic below. The original OM617 diesel was replaced with an OM602 (essentially the motor that succeeded the OM617 in the MB lineup) We would like to import and register the car in the USA but I'm being told that because the motor was replaced that the vehicle will have to meet 2015 emissions standards. This doesn't seem right to me because if you put a crate motor in your '80's Mustang you would't have to meet 2015 standards, you're still bound by '80's standards... Right? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. -Ed-
  3. While I love the truck division of the Paris-Dakar, the nastiest vehicles to ever compete in my mind were the 1980's Porsches... While I love the 953 for its more classic Porsche looks, the 959 was then and is now an absolute animal of a car... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Porsche_953 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Porsche_959
  4. Angelo... Take some time to enjoy your toys... Hope that someday we'll get the B-85 and B-95 together for a cruise through the country. We've probably been on some of the same fire scenes and didn't even know it.... Propane job on I-287, apartment fire in Pelham with the FDNY boys, a call or two at HPN... I'll PM you the next time I'm up from Florida and maybe we can finally break bread.
  5. Thank you all. Great suggestions all around. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. Paul I didn't think about a solar one. How far can you run the panel from the rig. I'd need about 40 ft Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. They have to turn a turbocharged 6v53, and unfortunately the rig is kept at a storage facility that albeit indoors, does not supply power. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. So I went to take the General Ike out of storage today and it would appear that the batteries are shot. They were brand-new three years ago but frankly I have only driven the truck 5 times in three years. I think I'm going to replace them but I would prefer to do so with an economy model as I feel that this scenario will replay itself over and over again and I would rather put cheap batteries in instead of continually destroy good batteries. Thoughts? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. So I think I want to take the kids out in the General Ike tomorrow. It doesn't have seat belts and I need to secure my 3 yr old's car seat as well as my 7 year old's booster. Thoughts? Auto parts store and drill through behind the seat? It's a two door semi open cab. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. Paul I haven't carried in ages but I'm starting to think about it. If I do, I'll be carrying my grandfather's NYPD S&W Model 10 just on principal alone. Agree with you... Any chance I've got to thank a LEO I go out of my way. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. Sorry I don't know why I thought it was E59. Good luck. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. Vlad are you a G-Wagon (Gelandewagen or G-Class) specialist? There is always one in your photos. Last time black, now white. We have had 4 of them. G500 (Black, Black, Silver) and G550 with G55 exhaust upgrade (White). They're bullet proof and US Special Forces use them in place of Humvee's in certain situations because of their narrow track and extreme off-road capability. I want an early '80's 300GD upgraded with a OM617.951 Turbo 5 cylinder. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. My neighbor to the right doesn't use trash cans and the critters chew through the black bags for a snack. My neighbor to the left has a cat that might as well be a cougar and it kills the critters often leaving them on my property. The long handle shovel and my former lacrosse playing days mean that the neighbor on the right gets his dead critters returned right into his pool!!! "INCOMING!!!!!" 14. Angelo my B85 with the 6v53 (I know people it's a green leaker start the hating now) is a pleasure to drive. I've driven a gasser before and the difference is night and day. Can't imagine how nice a six speed would be. Is the 237 going in the old E-59? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. Not true. I watch every V8 Supercar race I possibly can. Wish they'd come back to Austin. I've been racing for about 15 years on and off, and running at Bathurst is on my bucket list. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. Not the original from sources I've spoken with. It's a teal T/A with a factory chicken hood, but it was Burts car after the fact. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. I'm assuming that the mixer was loaded and that is part of the reason behind the aggressive chassis twist along with the inability to get it upright using the same method as the Mack... Still.... I'm sure a Mack would have fared significantly better!!
  18. Thank you Angelo. Next time I'm back visiting family I'll have to find out when you're working so I can visit. I used to work in Rye for Mario Gabelli and have a fondness for so many Port Chester, Rye, Mamaroneck, and Larchmont food joints. I'll bring take out!!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. Well I'm sure that a Saturday night, handful of bud lights on my part, and not defending the fort had a lot to do with it! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. Nope... Not a Mack Jr..... But a baby girl. Sometime in February. Something fresh for her two older brothers to torture!!!
  21. Love this thread... Mostly because I've got a totally restored B model and with a third child on the way it reminds me that I don't have any time for projects like this..... I'm living vicariously through you!!!!
  22. So is that tank baffled, or do you always run full? Is there any reason why you couldn't run that as a fire tanker if it had a dump valve installed (obviiouslly not as a milk carrier as well, just by design). My 3600gal KW tanker was the largest I've seen in the fire service on a straight chassis. Even the tractor drawn tankers aren't much bigger than yours.
  23. Pic's weren't loading correctly so here is a link to the article.... http://www.rocktoroad.com/content/view/2930/60/
