  1. I didn't see much wrong either but I do think he was pretty lucky getting bolts out. I see more people using impact guns on stuff like head bolts and I just don't really see why. I'd get it if you were in a shop and had a time crunch but on something this old? A breaker bar just had more feel and it will give you an idea of how tight to torque it back too. Starting fluid on a gas engine is another thing I don't understand. I found that a squirt bottle with some 2 stroke gas is the best for getting a stubborn engine to go.
  2. Any E7 should work but having the electronics from the old truck like the ECM and TCM will make the swap so much easier. Not much mechanically differed from different E7 horsepowers aside from a different tune on electronic components. As long as its an AI E7 it should work. Not sure if this motor would have a large flex plate like an automotive automatic but everything should bolt up if you saved all the parts.
  3. Watched Corvette Summer the other day, very funny but the 70s style is another thing before my time. That C3 Corvette just looked ugly to me but my sense of style is definitely with the 80s C4 corvettes so I've got a bit of bias.
  4. Moonfire was brought up in another form when I asked about twin stick cabovers: The plots pretty strange but the trucks sure are cool! That F model would sure be a cool truck to have with the twin stick and it looks and sounds like it has a V8! Lots of 60s and 70s truck regulations and other stuff that I just don't understand, but that's quite a bit before my time.
  5. Unless it was an Olivetti or some other cool brand the electric typewriters aren't usually worth much. The little electric motors inside are nice for projects though. I've been mowing for the last couple of weeks but the weeds have already gotten ahead of me.
  6. Clean looking engine! I never understood why more people don't mess with the AC engines. Seems like a EGR block off plate and a different turbo are all it takes to have a good motor.
  7. I wonder what size those front tires are, they look kinda goofy to me. Odd the voltage regulator cover is missing too. Very clean for the northeast! Hope someone here gets it.
  8. Just was thinking how easy it would be to cold start a right hand drive Mack with the air cleaner right there. Probably not much use for Ether or starting fluid in Australia but here in the states it sure helps get tired engines going when it's cold.
  9. Off topic but does anyone know if Mack put a twin stick in any of their cabovers? I saw a 60s White cabover with twin sticks once and it looked like a nightmare to drive.
  10. Here: I hope no one minds I put this up on YouTube but its the only way everyone can see it.
  11. Welcome! I'm not so familiar with the Cruiseliner cabovers but I've read that some of the early ones had problems with interior bits and "exploding dashes" but the rest of the truck was build very well. Heres more about the engines and transmissions offered:
  12. What a cool truck! It's cool to recognize all the parts but arranged in different places. Does this truck have the E6, E7 or maybe even the E9? I've heard in some countries they continued E6 production well after they stopped making them here. Did they offer the E9 in New Zealand? Sorry to bombard you with questions but I have never even heard of these before!
  13. I've got a pic but its kinda hard to read due to the sun: Heres a better one on another truck: I looked at some decoding forums but I can't figure anything out ^ The cabs are all that's left from most of these, so the glass and maybe the trim would probably be the only things still salvageable in my mind. Edit: The newest registration stickers I could find was 1994 or 1996 so parting these trucks out probably made more sense at that time
  14. Most if not all of them had been gutted. Sad to see the custom stickers and paint jobs some of these trucks had, the owners were really proud of their trucks then. Found this sticker in the door on one of the Mh's: Anyone remember what this could have been or what this recall involved?
  15. Not to go too far off topic but I found a cabover graveyard that's too cool not to share: This poor Pete would have been one cool V12 truck in its day! If only they could tell stories. Can't seem to track down the owner but I think the land was sold recently so they could all go to scrap.
  16. Looks like they're getting around to liquidating all the equipment here in a couple of months: https://www.rbauction.com/?keywords=equipment-from-yellow-corp Most of it will probably leave the country but I hope some people here can get some good deals. I'd love to get a cheep forklift but all the terminals are too far away.
  17. I have a 13 Mini and before that I had a 5 that I used for 8 years. I might downgrade to a flip once this 13 is wore out because it doesn't look like they'll be making anymore small phones. I'm the young skinny guy and I have to do all the crawling around under stuff so a small phone is a must.
  18. Sorry to revive old threads but this is kinda cool! I was reading through some old Mack news articles on an archive and found what was previously stated: So a couple of these Mack/Renault amalgamations did make it over to North America but where did they go? I wouldn't blame them if they dumped them in the ocean somewhere, but there is a cool factor in finding the only example on the whole continent.
  19. What book/magazine is that from? Looks like a good read! My dogs too fat to be a truck ornament lol
  20. What specific motor were you thinking of putting into it? If there's nothing wrong with the body I would say it would be worth swapping in a different motor, but you have to keep in mind that the transmission could be the reason it was originally parked and there isn't a real good way of testing those till you get everything back together. I see now why multi head motors aren't made here anymore, having one big head makes them harder to steal
  21. I didn't even look at the date. Looks like he hasn't been on in a month
  22. ^2x what he said. Unless you're keeping it off road and you plan on keeping it forever its probably not worth it. Plus you would need a way to program it which from what I hear about Volvo isn't easy.
  23. What a cool truck! Most people chucked the flatheads but I'm glad this one was able to be preserved. Magnadyne is such a cool name for an engine
