  1. Good eye spotting that! It would be a cool project to save that cab and restore it. Ive heard helicopter and crop duster turbine engines have a lot more hours left in em after FAA regulations decommission them. Wonder how hard that would be to swap 🤔
  2. I like that look too, lots of rubber. Probably not the best if you don't have power steering with a larger contact patch on the ground, but I haven't driven enough to know if that would make a bit of difference.
  3. Anyone know if this is normal oil pressure? Or if there is a relief valve that's stuck? 90 just seems too high at full load Also anyone know how to tell if an engine has dynatard? This truck had an engine swap way back when and I am wondering if it mechanically has it but just never got hooked up. You boys that drive these truck in the hills fully loaded are brave! Engine has hardly any breaking at all, almost feels like the clutch is pushed in when you let off. Nature of the beast I guess
  4. Hauled the first load of milo with the R700 today. Its a long haul so we are running both trucks
  5. Good to hear an update on this! I've got too many projects on the back burner as well, too busy in the summer and too cold in the winter lol On the topic of gaskets anyone tried carbide scrapers for gasket removal? I've got an aluminum head that is being stubborn.
  6. Did those originally come with the Continental/Hercules engines and then swapped out? Were they swapped out by the military or was it done after they were retired? The ones around here I've only seen hauling water for cattle.
  7. I'll make a separate thread about it sometime, not too worried about it now that its cold. I need parts like the top cab seal and control panel.
  8. Wish I could have talked to that guy with the W900. I'd like to get the rooftop unit on my Mack working, maybe he would have a few pointers.
  9. Wasn't able to make it this year but took some pictures on my way through. Seemed like it was going to be a good show! 8V92 in this Transtar, nice looking truck. Wish I'd got the chance to talk to more of these people, lots of nice folk. Hope I get to bring a truck one of these years but it's always a busy time.
  10. You don't see many of those that are in that good of shape anymore, most are beaten to death by the 2nd owner. Hope it finds a good owner
  11. I see the jumper wires now, who knows what I was thinking! And everything would be 12 volt since both battery banks are grounded. The two solenoids are for key on and start. I've never been very good with these diagrams, at least there are no Diode or Resister alien symbols.
  12. How interesting, it looks to me like those are two 6 volt batteries that are connected In parallel to provide 12 volts to the starter but everything else is 6 volt. Never seen that! Our International truck has a similar setup with two 12 volts to make 24 for the starter, that parallel solenoid has gotten knocked out a couple of times.
  13. Local Ford dealership building sold last year and I picked up a shop manual for a CL9000. They stopped selling cars in the 90s but the family held onto the building until recently, tons of cool stuff with books and parts. Anyway, need to get that CL9000 book scanned onto a PDF
  14. I'm in the same place at the moment, wheat needs to get put into the ground and milo cut. Still waiting on things to dry out.
  15. I was just thinking about these. Yeah parts for the midliner are expensive/hard to find, but Mack Freedom parts are probably even worse. It's like the Bering trucks of the same time period.
  16. I couldn't open it either. Take a screen shot and try posting it
  17. Glad you didn't just hand him a Dodge/Ford/GM Diesel pickup like so many of the brat kids around me. V6 and a 5 speed sounds like a hot rod! 4WD is for fun! Tell him to get that transmission oil checked/changed right off. I don't remember what gearbox these have (NV3500?) but I know they don't hold like the larger 4 and 5 speeds. Hope he can get it to last until he's 18! I went through 3 before I even turned 18
  18. What a cool truck! Did you put those LED lights in or was it like that when you bought it? Let me know if you need help with pictures in the future, I can usually figure that kind of stuff out. We love pictures here!
  19. I've always wondered where you get replacements for those as they tend to get eaten by mice. Maybe make them out of sort of paper mache? Best of luck
  20. Do you have a iPhone? It might be the wrong format or something, I can DM you my Email and help you out if you want
  21. Sounds like a Hogans Hero's episode. Thanks for sharing
  22. What an eye catcher! Thanks for sharing
  23. Did they have the plastic dash in 1974? I thought they went to that later
  24. Was the air for pressurizing the fuel? Pressurizing the fuel tank then counting the drops when the pump gets into the right position? I've never spill timed anything but the process seems cool
  25. Spill timing can seem like magic but it shouldn't really be all that hard with the right tools and knowhow. Engine should run better too since the timing moves a bit after the gears wear in
