  1. The boosted intake air is what he is trying to measure, it just so happens to be a tip turbine engine. Although I wonder how much pressure is bled off from the turbo for the tip turbine system. In my head I've always thought the puff limiter was for drivers who didn't own the truck. When you pay the bills you are more conscious about what is coming out the stack and what's going past the rings into your crankcase. Wait until you feel the turbo come up then start adding fuel
  2. I didn't know that's how those Mazda boxes failed. Every auction Ford pickup with that Mazda 5 speed always seems to have a blown transmission, I just assumed it was from "farmer abuse" I did a slave cylinder on my 91 Ford with the ZF and it wasn't too bad getting it in and out, but it was 2WD. The 4WD NV4500 I did not to long ago was terrible and I hope I don't have to do another one of those again. It was 100+ pounds heavier than the ZF and it was in my driveway in winter.
  3. The F250 (or even rarer 350) with the 300 ZF5 speed was a great combo. Most of the 300s in lighter trucks had that Mazda 5 speed car transmission that didn't hold up very well and is terrible to rebuild. The ZF5 is a bit loud and the synchros in 4th go bad but I've never seen one fail in a stock tuned gas truck.
  4. Well I've stayed up long enough but it was worth it! May God have the glory!
  5. I wish we would have gotten a few of the 4.0 Liter Barra's over here instead of the Vulcan or Essex V6s. The V6s weren't terrible but I would take an inline 6 over a V6 in a truck any day. Although Ford did have one awesome V6. Anyone remember the Yamaha/Ford 3.0 SHO engine?
  6. Hope this is one of the last pages of this thread!
  7. I've heard about the LS heads some people are making for these, impressive stuff! Every 300 I've been around sounds like a vacuum cleaner sucking through that tiny 1bbl carb
  8. Dodge City is right in my neighborhood so I have always been a big fan of Gunsmoke. Green Acres, The Rifleman, and Rawhide are also good ones. The Perry Mason or Matlock channels are the best shows for afternoon naps lol Probably a dumb question but since Paul is in this thread I've got to ask; are there classic Australian westerns? I'd love to get some of those over here.
  9. I just started cutting milo today but didn't make it too far before the sun went down. This is how you move equipment from field to field if you get stuck by yourself: Beats walking lol
  10. What kind of tractor is that? I have avoided doing hay all my life, so far that is
  11. With the Spark and Camaro gone I think GM is pretty much done with cars. A 4 door, V8, manual transmission combo like the chevy SS would be nice to bring back, lots of those have been selling at auction for way over what they were brand new.
  12. Now where did that milk trailer end up? 🤔
  13. I would have never thought of cab mounts being the issue, I'll have to remember that. Reminds me of the old worn out Skid loaders have a similar problem where the slop in the steering gets too great and the machine will randomly start bucking violently.
  14. Got my 69 International out the other day to plant wheat. Ran great after I replaced all the spark plug wires AGAIN, Thanks mice! Very sweet running trucks glad your enjoying yours
  15. Just elm and cotton wood trees around my house so hardly any leaves. I hate those stupid pod trees though, they smell funny and I can't ever remember there name.
  16. Wow that is cool! It needs front wheel assist lol
  17. Glad you were able to find one! I know they rust out pretty bad around the cab corners, hope those pine needles didn't get into it too bad. Still looks to me like a worthy restoration candidate!
  18. I never got to talk to the owner of that truck but it had a 1693 Cat in it!
  19. Glad I was able to make it this year lots of cool trucks! Next year I'll have to bring my Transtar, this is a cool little show!
  20. That paintball clip is unbelievable. Can't wait for the Harris-Waltz administration to send the paintball squad to my front porch. I wonder if I would be considered a person of color afterwards 🤔
  21. If a company wanted to put out a hybrid semi truck they probably would have done something like it already. My guess is they already put so much effort and development into making fully electric trucks that they don't even want to bother with the hybrid system. The only other company that made serious attempts that I know of is Eaton but their system was quite a bit different than Edisons system and its been more then 10 years since they last ran a promotion. Here's an example from the 80s made by Briggs And Stratton:
  22. Hats off to you for 49 years! All my retired friends say they are working harder now than when they were employed. Hope you get a chance to travel and work on new projects!
  23. Whatever you install make sure they are well grounded! I've heard stories of loosing headlights at night with Mh's due a bad ground. Late 80s chevy headlights look like they have the same bucket but I'm sure the mounting/adjusting will be different. LED brights with standard dims is what I've seen a lot of people run on quad headlight stuff. Not as annoying in town and such.
  24. I have a 74 cruiser in the same color that belonged to my grandpa. Definitely not in perfect shape like that one!
