  1. Love that brown ute on the lift in the back! UPS is running some new Anthems around here but haven't seen too many others yet.
  2. Remember not too much oil in the generator/starter cups! I use 3-in-One Oil in my stuff with generators and only lubricate them annually. As stated there isn't much to go wrong with these generators. I think I've posted this video here before but it explains the generator/regulator better than anything I've seen:
  3. The Australians probably have it even worse driving on the exhaust side of things. Probably don't even need a pyrometer if your cabs not sealed up from the exhaust heat.
  4. I know exactly what you're talking about with corn sweat, the air feels hot and sticky with a sweet smell to it. Near feedlots seems to be where it's the worst. My dad would tell me about fixing irrigation pivots in the summer when he was a kid and wow that sounded hot, with the humidity and not even the slightest breeze in the middle of the corn field.
  5. One of the last years for the 1693 before they went to the 3406
  6. It wouldn't be so bad If the passenger side window went down but its jammed up. Plus these old 1693's dump out a TON of heat so it's like being in an oven. Running the combine with no AC, which I did for the first day, was more tolerable than the truck and it's got the motor right next to the cab.
  7. Wheat harvest is done! Only had 200 acres and it was weedy and thin by the time it dried up enough to cut. No major breakdowns! Had only a couple of hoses and a fan belt break The last strip ^ It was HOT driving the truck today with no AC! Hovered around 100°F here It's been a number of years since I last was done before the 4th of July so that should be fun.
  8. Supposed to get up to 100 here today. Hope it dries up most of the field so I can get into the field again, we got an inch and a half of rain last Saturday and that shut us down for a week. Hopefully I can get the rest of my wheat in by the end of the week. Hope everyone else stays safe
  9. Thats the last generation of heavy duty Ford pickup that I would want to buy. Our family has been scared off from diesel pickups since our last 6.5 blew up but I have always liked the 7.3, especially if it has the manual transmission. Always wanted to find a 87 or 88 Ford pickup with the 6.9 IDI and the 5 speed. I've heard those 6.9s are indestructible engines if you take care of them.
  10. I thought you were talking about building a pickup one piece at a time there for a second lol I've got too many junky pickups and I should get rid of a few but after a while I forget why I parked them in the first place.
  11. I haven't seen anything about it but I've been out of the loop for a month now. I know the deer south of us get a "zombie disease" that turns them into walking vegetables. Saw a video of a deer with the disease walking around with its back half torn to bits. I think it is spread by ticks and such, don't know if it spreads to cows. By no means am I a cattle expert with my herd of 4 lol
  12. A fan depending on size and RPM can take 10-25 horsepower from the engine. Couldn't say how much more fuel a fan stuck on would take but it would be considerable.
  13. That seafood looks good! I've never had or heard of clam strips but they sound good! I'm too far from the ocean to enjoy any of this stuff only fish I catch around here taste like muddy work boots. Lots of Lambs quarters and other ditch weeds around here a trucker could boil up if they get hungry enough. They sure taste good to me!
  14. If you can get the head up a 1/2 Inch you may be able to stick something in between the head and the piston and force it up by barring over the motor. I've seen fokes stuff rags down spark plug (injector) holes and force heads off that way. Probably should be your last ditch effort as this could screw something up. You could also try and pulling the head up as far as it will go and clamping vice grips on the stud from the bottom to try and get it loose. That way you don't screw up the threads. Good Luck!
  15. I know it is frustrating listening to these "no nothing old farts" on an online form (believe me I've been there) but at the end of the day we don't want to see another E9 blow. Every year more of them are taken off the road and it sickens me to think they could become extinct one day. While they are very capable motors and can outlast us all if taken care of properly, it is crucial they are taken care of if we want future generations to witness this trucking icon. Sorry to get so philosophical lol. And WOW Joey that Australian county music ain't half bad!! Make a thread and share some more of that!
  16. Electric clutch fan or electric fans? I've haven't heard of many electric clutch fans and electric fans are a bad idea on anything this old with wiring and such. I would try and go with an air clutch like a Horton, they are available everywhere but adapting might be tricky. You could also go with a viscus clutch but you can't flip those on with a switch (switchable fans are nice if you don't have jakes).
  17. 500hp out of a mechanical motor is a lot different than a new 500hp electronic motor. Unless your using this in a boat or a tank like the French did 500 is plenty for a semi.
  18. My great grandparents Immigrated from Pfeifer Russia (Gvardeyskoye now, along the Volga river) to Pfeifer Kansas (USA) in the late 1890s or early 1900s. Thats not far north of Georgia if I'm reading this map correctly. Very cool to see where they came from! Thanks for bringing us on this cool trip! Also the Georgian language has always looked so cool to me, it looks like an alien language.
  19. Looking at auction sites will pull up several, here's one from bigiron: F75FVT13365 Something this old the serial number doesn't mean much anyway
  20. I think the Cummins ISL is an 8.3 with common rail and a longer stroke. I've ran a IH 1688 combine with the old mechanical 8.3 and a newer 2588 with a common rail Cummins. Both of them have had water pump failures and the common rail Cummins uses quite a bit more fuel.
  21. I haven't seen a swamp cooler in a house around here in a long time. Is it for your house or a shop? That reminds me of the old equipment that had swap coolers mounted on top of the cab. The water would drip down on you and it would get very gross once the chaff and straw got in it. Raising the humidity in the cab often just made things hotter and more miserable, open air stuff was often times more bearable.
  22. I have a Honda Trail 70 I ride pastures with but it burned up an intake valve last week Amazon has "new" head for $40 so I guess I'll try that next. It got up to 93°F today and it's getting tough to sleep at night. I try and push till June or July before the AC comes on but a month a go I was tired of the cold so I just try and think of that.
  23. A recore shouldn't be too bad at the proper shop. Aluminum radiators are getting cheeper now too if you want to look into that route. What's with the two radiator caps? What would the one at 90° be used for?
  24. Thanks! That was the name I was trying to think of! Neighbor had an old Terra-Gator but I've never seen it run. They look like monster trucks!
  25. I'm actually in the market for something like that lol That cab looks so familiar but I just can't place it. I have a hunch that it's from either an Allis Chalmers, AGCO, or White product but not sure. Macks aren't typically the trucks farmers convert Into stuff like this but It sure is interesting when they do.
