  1. T444 is what is was called in International products and 7.3 Powerstroke is what it was called in Ford products, Same engine as far as I know. International is known for crapy wiring so that's something that should be taken care of first before the HEUI fuel system. I'm not an expert HEUI systems but Adapt Ape on YouTube has some guides on troubleshooting them. Good luck
  2. oops I didn't think I would watch that whole thing but 20 minutes later and I couldn't believe it was over. The pickup segment at the beginning was hilarious. ALL of our pickups look exactly like this.
  3. I guess I've been around too many worn out diesel powered equipment to like smoke. When your spending all day around a Diesel engine you appreciate one that doesn't smoke.

  5. I wonder when the Ford flathead V8 was put into it. Vlad's got a good point about the cooling system, what does that look like? The flathead V8 was probably In there longer than the original motor by my guess.
  6. One think that I forgot to mention about another American company acquiring Mack is the revival of Mack off road trucks. Even if they were just a Mack paint scheme on a Caterpillar haul truck model I think it would be cool to see since they've been dead since the 70s. An all Mack haul truck seems like a dream.
  7. It really wasn't all that bad. A cake walk compared to taking the NV4500 out of our 1996 chevy. The torsion bar suspension makes it a lot harder. Plus that Nv4500 is a heavy sucker compared to that 4 speed.
  8. I helped a friend pull a 4 speed out of his new $800 1979 K25 chevy truck. Second gear was out is what he said The transmission jack went out again so it might be fun getting the new one back in.

  10. This trucks just too cool not to share. How I envy the people who got to drive them in their day. No parts left and from what I've heard people are too scared to even use them anymore. New automatic trucks just don't seem as cool as the old Mechanical Allison's and ZF's of the 70s and 80s. Also what's with the door in the back of the bunk? Never seen anything like it and it seems hard to climb up into.
  11. I heard there was a few cat motors that made it into cat truck here in America. But they couldn't meet emissions so they were low production. I think CT 13 and CT 15 is what they were called. They had a cat block, head, and internals but with crappy international wiring and bosh injection systems. Not much info on them out there.

  14. I've heard some bad things about those cat automatic transmissions. $20,000 just for the torque converter plus maintenance I heard is a pain. However Versatile uses cat power shift transmissions in there 4WD tractors so maybe it's just the rarity that makes them a pain.
  15. I heard Caterpillar is showing some interest in trucking again. It's complicated, but from what I understand they're making new engines for trucks as an exchange program. I don't think Volvo would give up Mack but Caterpillar would make a quality product.
  16. Something electric probably. That sure is an exiting title though, Mack used that same phrase for an Ultra-Liner promotion.
  17. Not at all. 4-5 grand for labor isn't bad at all. Heck I've been quoting plumbers all week and its $1000 bucks just for them to come all the way down here 😡 But in most other dealer and big shops the labor is the part that drives up the costs. You not only have to pay for the rebuild but the insurance and social security for all the employees that work at the shop. The big guys know they can't compete with the small guys in price so they drive em out of business. Sorry Joey I didn't mean to dog on your business or anything. I'm young and dumb and try to do and learn everything myself, bites me in the butt most of the time down the road.
  18. I use Udder Balm or less preferred Bag Balm for any sores on me or the cow. Lanolin based products seem to work the best for me but never considered mint, might have to give it a try. And I have never heard of "tail jacking." My paster is also my neighbor and something like "tail jacking" or "teat playing" is something Id really prefer not to explain Sunday morning.
  19. Labor seems to be the most costly part. E-Techs are a whole different beast but the old mechanical E7 seem pretty easy to rebuild. Both the rebuild instruction manual and rebuild video are available online.
  20. I've got a few diesels that sometimes act like this. Vaperlock is the best way I would describe it, only that can't really happen on a diesel. In all of them Ive seen there seems to always be a problem with the fuel line or air getting into the fuel somehow. Try clear line between the fuel filters and injection pump and look for bubbles if you get desperate. One of the trickiest problems to diagnose on a diesel. Best of luck
  21. I get why people speed shift but they're not usually the one's who have to pay the repair bill. Manual transmission trucks are going away for that reason. So please, shift with care and enjoy it. To me its just as fun and rewarding.

  23. Me and dad about bought this today at an auction. It went for $1,900 but it's too long of a frame for us. Plus with a 5 speed probably wouldn't be enough gears for what we want to do. Bought this instead for cheep. Our old 110 volt air compressor just isn't enough anymore so this 220 volt should be better.
  24. Probably wouldn't be a good idea in the long run. If It did work you'd be putting a lot of stress on a cam not meant be pushing twice the valves with a different variation and possibly timing. You probably could bore out the 2v block to accept the 4v cam but It would be better to just keep the 2v heads.
