  1. Went out to my uncles to see some family for Memorial Day. Walked over to our old Mack we sold him, I don't know how I never noticed this but someone before us took out the air bags for the cab and put metal spacers. Well no wonder it rides so rough!! Shouldn't they look more like the ones in the other pic? I might be all wet but I thought all Mh's came with air ride cabs from the factory. Where could someone find a set of these bags and shocks? Also I never noticed that someone took out the Mack Transmission that was original to the truck and put an Eaton in sometime in its past. I really didn't pay much attention to the truck when we had it I guess!
  2. https://www.bigmacktrucks.com/topic/62509-bought-a-1983-mack-mh-613-and-need-a-touch-of-help/?do=findComment&comment=452410&_rid=32227 Here is a link to a thread where a guy had a simular situation and I think he finds and cross references the part numbers for the u joints. Check this thread out and see if you can find anything.
  3. Do you have a picture of the engine tag? Some models of engine were governed at reduced speed for fuel efficiency. Check the engine tag to see if it's one of those engines. I'm not sure about how to increase the speed but id be very weary of messing with the injection pumps on Mack engines.
  4. Wow that things slick! Ive never looked but since its a Ford you probably can find all the manuals and PDF's online for it. Love your Allis Chalmers too!
  5. Those Paccar (DAF) engines sure are quiet. Saw a guy on YouTube take one all the way down and I'm not too impressed with stuff like plastic oil pans among other things.
  6. Vacuum gauges sure are handy for stuff like this. They are your best friend for carbureted engines like this.
  7. They no longer hold the most powerful v8 truck anymore. A Chinese company called Shacman now makes a 800hp V8 truck. Don't know much outside of that.
  8. I think it's been covered on this sight before in a different thread but I don't think you could get the E6 with a Jake brake. The later E7's I believe you could and the parts MAY be able to be swapped over. But it's a lot of work and not worth it in the long run. The best you can do is keep the Dynatard system adjusted right.
  9. I've looked for a tag but it might have been painted over. I need to go through and give her some tlc.
  10. Can't be worse than our 1693 Caterpillar. Claderpillar's not an exaggeration:
  11. Good looking trucks for sure. Had a good eye for brochures back then too
  12. Wish you could still get a Detroit in a long nose truck, that would truly bring back the feel of the old cats. Makes you wonder what the DD16 feels like with 2050 max torque over the DD15.
  13. I haven't heard much about newer Volvo/Macks either. I've heard some negative about getting some parts for them though. I've read and seen a lot of good about the new X15 in trucks and tractors alike. To me they just look like a 90s engine before all that emissions stuff got put on them. The free resources and information about them online with quick serve's what would make me pick them. Plus every large truck shops Cummins certified. Seems like a winner to me.
  14. I can see you hoods bent a tad bit. Or did they all come factory like that 🤔 😂 Both of parts C/K's either have the broken hood in the middle or have flatstrap in the middle as a brace.
  15. To many more candles! Happy Birthday!
  16. Heck we still got trailers with split rim tires. Those dudes were made way before date codes came around. We never get dot inspected and we drive so slow that a tire on the rear blows out every 2 years or so and we just drive it to the tire shop and get an equally worn tire put on. Steers are the tires we don't cheep out on though. eBays a great place to get tires if you have all the tire tools and if your this guy.
  17. The insurance, title and tag almost always costs more than the price of the truck for us (both pickups and semi's). Once they get to be the antique tag age is when things get even cheeper. The days of getting $1000 farm trucks is probably over now though with online taking over.
  18. Have a Happy Birthday Bob!! Here's a chuckle you might enjoy, or dread 🤣:
  19. I don't think I could even do that! I was spoiled by learning to drive on a International with a 1693 Cat and a 13 speed fuller transmission. The torque of that engine is addictive.
  20. All I can say it brand new manual transmissions are 3-7 thousand while automatics are 20+. You can change out a manual transmission and clutch without having to do anything with computers or reprograming anything. Although old 70-80s ZF and Allison heavy duty automatic's are kinda fun to drive, not too kind on fuel though.
  21. Old pattern T2090 and old pattern T2090 are (correct me if I'm wrong) mechanically internally the same. 4/8 LO was changed to 1/5HI because 4/8 LO was found to be loud or damaging to the back box. I've read that the updated pattern is better or smother to shift than the old pattern. If you can't find or don't want to make a sticker for the old pattern the new pattern might have to be the way to go. Here is the old pattern and it's ratios. LO/HI is about the same as 4/LO
  22. SW Kansas. Also what implement is that on the back of your tractor? A rototiller or some kinda snow blower?
  23. Hey just be lucky you got something even if its snow! It rained here for the first time since I'd say August or October of last year today. Wasn't much but it got the pavement and road's damp.
  24. I knew that John Deere made a V8 similar in stature to the Mack V8 but I didn't know they put them in loaders and had the same pump. Very cool
