  1. Looks to good to putting anything on it Paul
  2. I'm really of little to know help here, however experience has shown me that what ever tool I think I'm gunna need I will actually need the other most of the time Dollars only stretch so far and every time I'm promised work it ends amounting to nothing or a head ache and even if something does result from the promised work I have debt I can never repay So for me the best results are achieved by finding my own way Anyway enough doom and gloom from me and best of luck Paul
  3. There's no easy way to do this but if you feel its bad enough then you need to split the rails completely, sand blast and reassemble Not a huge cost but a lot of work I wouldn't cut the chassis rail unless that was the only way From what I know, which is two tenths of stuff all, most rails spring back into shape after this is done Paul
  4. I love it, this is a very impressive build Paul
  5. You all have come a long way in the last few months, well done It sounds very quiet inside, even with no doors, quieter than my truck with doors Great stuff and thanks for sharing Paul
  6. Welcome to the forum Sounds like you have been well exposed to Macks for many decades now Good luck finding what you are chasing Paul
  7. Thanks very much, Mrs Mack was slowly going backwards so I collected parts for a fare few years and slowly put money away towards the future job at hand Anyway push came to shove so I just got out the grinder and started cutting off more than I thought I could chew and just kept on chewing LOL Paul
  8. Permatex and Loctite products are getting harder to get locally as they are getting replaced by cheap crap that looks almost the same but definitely isnt Think it comes from China or somewhere even cheaper if thats possible The good old gasket good, I aviation sealant from Permatex is the proper name and the purple Loctite flange sealant that neved really sets hard are my favorites Permatex copper head gasket spray has had a good result for me Old blokes used silverfrost paint for head gaskets years ago Paul
  9. Thats an amazing job youve done there Paul
  10. Was a good looking truck in its day and still is today Paul
  11. One thng I have never done is check anything inside when fixing the leaking O ring So I guess that makes it about 5 things I've never done lol Anyway I reckon check the breather, dunno if you have remote breathers on the fire wall as a lot of Macks out here do Pull them apart and wash the gauze and filter material out in petrol (gas) and blow the line out to the diffs Most times when things like that start leaking the breather is blocked, at least thats my experience We have mud wasps out here amd them buggers block things up in a hour or so given half a chance Paul
  12. Aint that the truth, I jave always felt I'm better to wait and save for longer than get something I dont want and regret it for ever Paul
  13. Bugger me, thats a interesting exercise Paul

  15. Well sorry U.S of A, you jokers dont really even rate compared to Australia the greatest place in the universe Yep it's Australia Day today 26th January So don't get to jealous of our great country and it's wonderful Mack trucks Paul
  16. Kids hey, we never stop worrying no matter how old they get Well done to the lads and I hope it all works out okay with what ever they end up doing I always say to people "the most important thing you can give your kids is a good work ethic" If you have a good work ethic it helps in so many ways that aren't even related to earning a dollar, it gives you the staying power to see things thru no matter how pare shaped they have become Once again well done to Medium and Large, I bet proud as punch Paul
  17. Might have to go on a holiday Vlad and bring some back in your suitcase I'm stunned at how well these steering wheels have come up Paul
  18. She's all fully blinged up The cone centers on my 58's are cromed and the caps on the trunions were chromed as well once With the chrome nut covers on the spiders it used to look pretty flash.I thought, lame by todays ultra blinged up dumped on the ground huge bumper and sunvisor jobs of today I would like chrome rims and spacers but I dont think the Princess would let me have a bar of it Paul
  19. That pretty much applies to any western country I dont mind paying tax at all, but dont fritter it away, a lot of hard work and lost sleep goes into earning it Paul
  20. Now that we have more info I will give you my uneducated answer Pumps gotta come off, someone has adjusted it and something has come loose inside and shifted, as was said, ot gradually got worse 38 pounds boost is massive and the fact it is still holding that boost tells me something And it only revs to 2000 with no load This definitely isnt a lack of fuel issue, rather as correctly diagnosed at the start a governor issue Paul
  21. First things first When you are loosing pull are you still making smoke ? If your making smoke when the power drops off fuel isnt your issue Should pull like a train at least till 1900 or 1950 Paul
  22. We can buy new chrome rims in Australia for aboit $450 Australian I like the look but Im to tight to drop that much coin for some bling As I would need spacers as well By the time I got 60 rims and 30 spacers thats a lot of coin for some bling Paul
  23. Looking pretty darn good to me Paul
  24. Back to the question I dont worry about miles, if your gunna buy second hand its a gamble whether it has 3 miles or 3 million miles It can go kahput in a heart beat and leave you out of pocket big time First thing that has to be right with out a question is the chassis, if it's stuffed its like building a house on crook foundations Next for me is cab Then drive line The reason I say this is drive line parts are plentiful were as cab parts run out of stock quick no matter what the brand as they are updated all the time but drive lines stay fairly similar for mamy years Paul
