Ferrals, now thats a whole different kettle of fish We can go a bit ferral but dont wanna be known as ferral, to be ferral in Australia might be like you blokes call white trash Anyway thats probably going near political correctness to much but I think you get my drift Paul

Nope, never seen a add like that Paul -
I have said this style of thing many times on here and on a Australian truck forum It might not be a perfect situation but the brand is still going and despite some carry on Mack in Australia at least stocks plenty of old Mack parts They (Mack Australia dealers) tell me as long as people keep buying old parts Volvo will keep making them Dunno how true that is but it makes sense if you think about So it is up to all of us to support Mack because if we don't we will end up with nothing and only have our selves to blame Or at least thats how I see it Paul

Mrs Mack came about because of the chrome ladies on each side of the bonnet (hood for you lot in Yanky land) Anyway it sort of stuck as my best mates surname is McIntosh, his wife (the diff, shes like a old Holden with a crook diff, whines the whole bloody time so I have called her the diff for many years now and she hates it) Anyway she commented one day about my chrome ladies and I told here they were modelled on her, she got all proud and quite impressed that she still had it in the looks department I then pulled the bonnet open and told her "and thats when you take your bra off" she wasn't impressed as they were now pointing to the ground lol, we still laugh about this stuff decades later And Paul was chucked on the end of Mrs Mack for the first forum thing I was on as the members might of got confused and think I was a sheila, not that there's anything wrong with that, I quite like shelias and plenty of them make good truck drivers as well Paul

The good old Aussie Valueliner, they sold really well and were rated for tripple road train work just like the standard R models before them The 350 E6 was a capable motor and would regularly gross 115 ton on road train work just like the 320 coolpower before it Yes bigger motors make the job easier but 350 hp is plenty as Mack proved for decades Paul

Mate I honestly don't know what the industry standard is in the U.S. for four headlights That been said 4 square or rectangular headlights don't look right to me on a R model I guess a lot of it is what are used to seeing And I prefer the series 1 Superliner round headlights for appearances than the series two Even the series 1 Superliner cab sitting lower looks better than the series 2 which is a couple of inches higher in Australia Paul

Well thats all I would do from the information I have at had I try not to over complicate things Most important thing is to get prepared before starting, I never steam clean anything before starting, I would like to but I have no access to one This been said I would clean the area as best as I could and wash it down with petrol and take for a drive about to be sure I know exactly whats leaking Once I am sure of this I get well organized with parts and work out how I'm going to tackle the job and then make a start The job is fairly simple, or at least to me it is so just getting things sorted before starting is the best plan Paul
-
No you shouldn't loose stuff all Get organised and be quick, I doubt much more than a drip or two will come out Paul

Just filled up $1.91 litre diesel or $7.16 a US gallon Even with the exchange rate thats $5.31 a U.S. gallon in U.S. dollars Worlds gone bloody mad, I gotta question the brain capacity of these so called leaders we have, both yours and mine, pack of limp dicks the lot of them Anyway I guess its like the saying goes, we only get the leaders we deserve Still say the worlds gone mad Paul

Welcome to the dog house, dont be shy to share pictures and stories Paul

Dunno about this trouble getting the yoke off, all I have tried and its been a few over the years just slide right off, might be all the salt used on the roads over there and all the heat we cop over here If there's any groove in the yoke just slip a speedy sleeve over to provide a perfect surface again As already mentioned, check the breather and wash it out properly More oil leaks are caused by blocked breathers than crook seals Paul

There is a on line service bulletin for the MP7 MP8 and MP10 I just typed "how to bleed a MP7 Mack engine" and it appeared right away So maybe do some googling Sorry I cant be of anymore help as I have no experience with these It does sound like the return side of the system isnt letting the air out but I really have no idea Perhaps look for a plug on the pressure side to get some fuel into the pump, just a guess Paul

I dunno much about anything in the grand scheme of things but the figures quoted are gunna fairly accurate I reckon The problem is that we never get back what put into these trucks and most of us don't do it to make a dollar and those that do probably aren't been truthful I dont think a old Cummins motor is gunna make a huge difference in value no matter what the motor is My father passed away not that long ago and when Mum was ready my brother and I went and cleaned out Dads things My brother and I are fortunate enough that we dont have to get rid of stuff so we boxed stuff up by the semi load and shifted and stored it all I might not unbox stuff for some time yet A lot of gear was bigger than your fathers truck but I just loaded it up and shifted it for Mum And to make it even more challenging most of the trips took two days But to me it was worth it as everything of Dads I get rid of is like getting rid of another piece of Dad and I will probably clean out a lot of stuff in the future when I'm ready My point to my ramblings is if you don't have to sell the truck then perhaps dont rush into it as you cant unsell it once its gone The end of the day it is none of my business and I'm just thinking out allowed and not trying to tell you what to do Good luck with it all and I hope you achieve a good outcome Paul

707 gas engine rings breaking
mrsmackpaul replied to mackdump600@yahoo.com's topic in Engine and Transmission
Maybe put a O2 censor in the exhaust when you get it all back together to see how it is running Gotta remember these are big pistons compared to a car so when she pings its gunna be huge So timing would be critical as would mixture Paul -
Sadly the cost of war I guess, but I guess it can be replaced unlike human life Sad state of affairs over there, hopefully common sense prevails and this mess is sorted sooner rather than later Paul

Sounds like my hair, I swear I just woke up one day and "POOF" gone 🤔 Paul
