  1. White smoke can mean you have air getting in your fuel system If this is the case it usually disappears in a few minutes If so the air leak is in your return side Also could be as simple as worn parts letting oil settle when not running and getting burnt off in the first few minutes I doubt it's a restriction in the motor or there would be oil everywhere when running Paul
  2. There's been a few of these mods done on the forum over the years Might pay to have a bit of a search and you can see what excitement is around the corner Paul
  3. Something floating against the sender unit, or the senders kaput or a crook wiring connection Oil pressure will still be there I reckon but what ever is reading is buggered Paul
  4. Double coin seam to have a good name in Australia, Im a tightass so run what is cheap and keep a close eye on them (checking air pressure etc) and rarely have issues Paul
  5. So you want a snorkel I'm guessing https://www.donaldson.com/en-us/engine/filters/products/air-intake/accessories/general/ Paul
  6. 3208 was a good little motor for what it was Certainly wasn't a throw away motor, it just never was wet sleeved so needed maching at rebuild like most conventional motors Not all diesels are wet sleeved, look at your SUV and pickups All good motors but have their limitations Paul
  7. One thing is for sure, if it was in Australia it would be sitting at my place by now Paul
  8. Well I reckon you've done well You'll no longer be guessing and wondering and should be good for ever Happy days I reckon It is funny how sometimes you just cant win on social media lol As long as your happy that is all that matters The original repair might have been done by a professional and the ability to align things on the truck might not of been as accurate years ago as it is today Great stuff Paul
  9. Well I dont have any hand guns as such, pistols and the like I have rifles and shot guns, nothing flash and shiny like you blokes Was working with a Yank from Arizona that now lives in Australia a few weeks ago I asked him about the different attitudes towards guns in Australia and America as he is a ex gun owners in the states and how he found our different attitude towards guns He reckons he found it a bit unsettling at first but once he got used to our ways he reckons its okay and in a lot of ways better We never talked much more about what makes it better or worse as we started talking about medical systems and that's a whole different conversation There was a fella on here from years ago I used to Skype regularly with from the New England area and we would talk about everything and share gun stories and the like Dunno if people even use Skype these days we changed to messenger some years ago Paul
  10. They sold them V8 B models new here with a Mack V8 and with a 8V71 GM Both had the quad box, both had the big aluminium radiator and both looked the same But they both sounded very different 🤪 Paul
  11. Yes people are paying crazy money for old classic cars these days Some clown bought a GT HO Falcon for over a million and has put it in a plastic bubble, spend that type of coin Im gunna smoke the tyres off it and shag sheilas in the back seat https://www.drive.com.au/news/ford-falcon-gtho-phase-iii-sets-new-auction-record-1-15-million/ Mind you Australia did make some pretty cool cars and the XY GT HO was the fastest 4 door production car in the world for many years Worked with a bloke that married a bird for a A9X Torana, his new inlaws agreed to buy him one if he married their daughter, ah true love He was mildly miffed to say the least when they demanded the car back when he got busted shagging some other bird in it Paul
  12. Dunno why you jokers are worried about auto or manuals, from what I read we are all gunna be driving self driving electric hydrogen jobbies shortly 🤔🤔 Hang on that makes no sense, how can you drive a self drive ????? Interesting reading in this thread, sorry not a lot of anything much to add thats worth while or remotely interesting from my end Paul
  13. Video wont play I am assuming you have a transmission with some air shift, as in forward reverse, high and low However it sounds like your loosing air pressure or theres crap in your gears no allowing them to slide fully in I would change the transmission air filter first Then if the problem is still there, check for air pressure on the gear box should be about 60 psi, anywhere from 45 to 75 is fine Then drop the transmission out and lift it apart for a look-see Or get us some more details on the transmission model, theres a few Maxitorque types Paul
  14. The fact that it has lasted this long I think says the repair is fine and more than up to the task The repair has the runs on the board to show it's fine As we say out here "if it aint broke, don't fix it" Paul
  15. Thats a result Well done Paul
  16. Roof linings are still available in Australia, I couldn't justify the cost, call me teddy tight ass but I think they were $1600.00 You have a great starting point there Paul
  17. Sounds like a fare amount of effort to cut up and chuck away when done I would make a strong steel saw horse but big enough to straddle the chassis This could be made in three bits, each side and a steel beam across aways You still have the saw horse for later and you didn't have to dig a hole Anyway your idea sounds good enough except for getting the post into position and getting it out of position I have found hydraulic rams big or small take a lot more effort than I can apply easily to open and close, and big rams take more effore than I can apply with a big ratchet strap So you might need a plan 'B' there if you cant collapse the ram Paul
  18. Yeah gotta agree with that, simple but not plain, nice but not over done, the balance is near perfect Paul
  19. Cant believe I have missed this until now Lucky lad to have such a truck, found the MIG welder to be really handy for getting broken bolts out, even just a drill and a jigsaw with a steel bit works wonders on bigger bolts Have never seen bonnet (hood) supports like yours so am learning more everyday These blokes are gunna be salivating waiting on photos of your whole truck I would of thought 350 hp would of been plenty for highway work, as in cruising down a highway at the speed limit but I dont live in the U.S. so dont really know Paul
  20. Yep, been there and done that, made mine into a video so people can see how not to do it If you have a few hours of your life to waste then clickty click on the picture and see how not to do it 🤔😀😃 I think theres maybe 17 or 18 videos, they should hopefully just follow along if not just keepp on clicking about Paul
  21. Good F and FR models are out there sitting in yards in around Australia but people are generally to tight to spend the coin for what ever reason, Im guessing they aren't as desirable as a R model maybe dunno But no one wants to spend the coin to buy one and then chuck another 30 or 40 grand at it to make it into a good truck Paul
  22. Im am surprised at the money, but not really as good R models have become thin on the ground very quickly Paul
