    H67 Doors

    I have a pair of doors, they have some rust and damage but they're solid and mostly complete. $100 or best offer for the pair, located in central Ohio. PM me if interested.

    I got it out today and washed the shop dust off of it, tomorrow I'm going to take it out on the road for the first time. My street is too busy the rest of the week for a shake-down cruise. They're building a huge Intel micro chip plant a mile up the street, the dump trucks roll by my house all day long. They even drive dozers and hoes down my street...the car tires whine as they roll over the cleat marks in the blacktop.

    I've never filled one of these caps before...it says to fill it up to the bead. I assume you fill the entire bottom cup? Once you get it up to the bead it starts to trickle over into the center area. It takes like 2 quarts to fill the whole thing!

    A friend of mine runs a fab shop, he made me a bumper out of 1/8" steel to match the original dimensions. The factory bumpers were 3/16" but my goal is to not hit anything with this truck. I painted it bright silver like the rims, it doesn't look too bad.

    I was planning to get a period-correct trailer to pull, but I don't want to spend the time and money on something else (I have the Brockway for that).

    I bought a deck plate, pogo stick, and trailer lines. I reused the cast iron gladhands to look original.

    The data plates had all been painted over, I soaked them in hot soapy water and gently scraped the paint off. I hit them ever so lightly with SOS pads and called it good.

    It's really sad when a truck gets that rusty...sometimes it can't be helped but other times they're just neglected when they should be fixed or sold.

    Jerry Howard ran a trucking outfit, and Howard Historical Trucking (I think that was all show trucks, not freight haulers) in Enon Ohio. He had a lot of old trucks and a shop to restore them. I went to a truck show there a few years back, sadly Jerry has since passed away. He hauled my H67 back from Longmont Colorado for me. ...My mistake, they were in Fairborn (near Enon).

    That is the "double dog" truck; according to this video on Youtube it belonged to Benny Whitehead. Apparently he passed away so probably an estate sale.

    This guy in Tennessee has an old LJ(?) with a sleeper, that's a rare truck. The ad is a couple of months old so I don't know if it's still available.     Today I got some things buttoned up and backed the truck outside for the first time in 6-1/2 years, still a lot of little things to do but definitely a milestone!

    One thing I've heard said on here is to get the truck on a hill (up or down) and see if the idle surges; if it smooths out when on a slope then the problem is in your governor.

    I picked up 10 new Nutech 10.00-20 tires yesterday, got all of them mounted today. That was a full day's work! When I fixed tires back in the 80's I would do this much before lunch. I paid $3,500 total with tubes, flaps, tax and everything; they look like decent quality tires. Of course, we'll see how round they are when I get this thing on the road! I used my "safety cage"...a clip-on chuck with the tire sitting behind the shop in case it blows. My record is intact, I've never had a 2-piece rim blow apart on me.

    Looks good! I remember when we learned how to jig time a Cummins, the instructor said there are three rules to it. 1) Read the gauges right. 2) Make sure you read the gauges right. 3) Make ****ing sure you read the gauges right!

    Looks like yours has the Luberfiner 750c oil filter, Zoro has them for $19.00. This page has the measurements on it, you could measure your old element to match it up.
