  1. Well, the steering wheel I bought on ebay won't fit my truck. Mine has a 1-1/16" spline OD and this wheel has a 15/16" spline. It's a 22" wheel, from a later truck-60's? 70's? I paid $175 for it so if anyone wants to buy it I will sell it for that much plus shipping. It's got some small nicks and scratches, and the center hub has a little damage on it but there are no cracks anywhere. PM me if you're interested.
  2. It's supposed to be on the way, I haven't seen it yet. You know how those FedEx guys are. 😉
  3. It took me a couple of years, but I finally collected a set of five KD517F, or Napa Visall VP63 (parts are interchangeable with KD). I must be living right because all the bulbs were good and they grounded the first try.
  4. $100 is a good price, unfortunately it's a 20" wheel. I bought a 22" one on fleabay out of an R model, I haven't gotten it yet. Hopefully it will fit.
  5. I read online that a lot of the older GM cars/trucks used that 11/16"-36 shaft.
  6. It must be for a GM truck; I saw online that they use an 11/16" 36 spline shaft. I think Macks have a 1-1/16" shaft.
  7. You ain't kidding, that's a weird way of having them on there.
  8. I tested it awhile back, it held most of the pressure for a few days but leaked off slowly. I put a ball valve before it so when the truck is parked awhile I can shut off the valve.
  9. I want to use the OEM round taillights in the factory holes on the rear crossmember. When I went to try them out, I found that I had mounted the air tank brackets on the wrong sides. I hemmed and hawed about taking them apart because everything is painted up nice. I finally decided I'd rather have the lights mounted correctly so I took the brackets off and swapped them. Oh well, as Ol2Stroker says, We do it nice cuz we do it twice! I had already plumbed the air start tank and valve. Problem is, I forgot the cardinal rule of installing parts with the cab up in the air...always check for clearance when lowering the cab. I installed the air cleaner and when I set the cab down, the nipple and elbow hit the air cleaner. Thankfully it just put a shallow dent in the housing, it didn't even scratch the paint...I've really been impressed with Nason urethane paint. I swapped the nipple for a street 45 so it would clear the air cleaner.
  10. I've got a steering wheel that came with a bunch of parts, some of which were for '50s GMC trucks. This wheel says "Sheller" and "65 435" on it, 20" diameter, splines look like they're around 11/16" or so. Anybody got a clue what it would fit?
  11. Fine looking truck on ATHS.org. https://aths.org/backlot/134907/1984-mack-tractor/trucks/
  12. Right. Treadle valve operates both, trolley valve only operates the trailer (if the check valve is working correctly and installed right).
  13. They do show up on ebay from time to time. All Vintage Trucks has some B model service manuals and parts books, but keep in mind these only cover one truck configuration so you'd have to see if the book you're looking at covers your engine, trans, and rear ends. I have some books that help me with some parts of the truck but other parts are not like mine. They're $125 each. https://allvintagetrucks.com/collections/service-and-maintenance-manuals?page=1
  14. Mechohaulic is dead on...the double check valve keeps the trolley valve from sending air to the tractor brakes.
  15. Another place to get some obsolete springs and parts is Stengel Bros. in Whitehall PA. I couldn't find new springs for my truck other places, and they were able to order some in.
  16. Spell check is for those of us with very little stress in our life, it brings your stress up to normal levels.
  17. My '59 has all -10 hose from the compressor to the wet tank, it had a 2' piece of copper line off the compressor then a piece of 100r5 the rest of the way. I switched it to stainless braid, they call it "discharge hose". Made to take the high heat coming off the compressor. I bought a 4' premade Tramec-Sloan line from finditparts.com for $60.
  18. I needed a control valve, mounting plates, wiper arms, and exhaust fittings for my wipers. I talked to the folks at Rome and they had all Trico parts for me (obsolete). The control was $70, and the arms were $20 each (stainless steel)...good prices. They were very helpful and they know their stuff. http://www.rometruckparts.com/
  19. I see they list Earl's Truck Sales as the distributor in Columbus Ohio. My grandfather had Columbus Brockway Sales & Serv., he retired and sold out in 1972. I wasn't in Ohio at that time plus I was 9 yrs. old so didn't really know what was going on. I wish I could have been old enough to be involved in the dealership, those Brockways are great trucks.
  20. I checked with Erik's, that wheel is 20". He said he would measure the splines to see if it would fit, but I'd better stay with the 22" wheel.
  21. Some good-looking tow trucks, and lots of tools, jacks, chains, snatch blocks, and shop equipment. https://www.proxibid.com/Jacquier-Auctions-Inc/PRIFTI-MOTORS-INC-ONLINE-AUCTION/event-catalog/214192
  22. I put the fenders on today, so I posted a video. I also tested one of the wiper motors and valves.
  23. I found these linings on ebay, it says they fit B models so I don't know if the G used the same. It says they are 1/4" thick. NOS Set Mack Emergency Brake Shoes for 1960-1970 H61T, B60ST, B60T & Some L Series. #221-SJ-20A or GG2033D. 5x1/4" for 12" Drum!!
  24. There are several companies that do it, just google steering wheel repair. I am definitely going to check those out, that's a good price. I want to stay with the original style, that white one would work fine but it's a 20" wheel and with manual steering I need the biggest one I can get. Mine's 22" and that extra 2" makes a big difference. It's a 1959 H67ST. Probably any 22" wheel from the 50's and 60's would work.
