We don't know about the Nissan yet, she called this morning but couldn't get anybody in the service department. Somebody is supposed to call her back but they haven't yet. She called an hour ago.

20 years ago thee service writer came to the waiting room while I was having the oil changer and told me the trans case was cracked and it needed to be replaced...at the tune of $3500. 

I told him hang on, and called upstairs and asked the owner to please come down. Than told the writer to repeat what he just told me. The owner said interesting. The car is still under warranty .

All it needed was a $10 rear seal at the driveshaft.

That as also that service writers last day there.

 

When I bought my 2016 Ram 1500 (used, with 39,000 miles) I had an issue with the transmission a few months later. I took it to the dealer who diagnosed and called me back and said it was the shift sensor pack in the transmission. I said "ok, do whatever you have to do, it's under warranty." The service advisor called me back a few hours later and said "Ok, it's all done, your cost is $585.00" I shit myself and said "What cost? That was warranty, don't tell me I have a cost." He said "yes sir, the new pan/filter (they are integral) and the 9 quarts of ZF transmission fluid, plus the labor. I was like "Uhhhhh bullshit! You had to drain it and open it up to replace the sensor pack, you take that up with Mother Fiat, because I am not paying dime one! He insists it's my cost. Told him "Get the Warranty dispute guy on the phone, lets see what he has to say." I got a song and dance, and then "Let us call you back." 

While I waited for him to call me back I called a buddy who is a Mopar mechanic in Florida. He sent me the TSB for the exact problem. Stated right in the TSB "Servicing agency will have to drain the transmission fluid and remove the pan blah blah blah, FIAT North America will reimburse blah blah....... Dealer calls me back and says "Ok, we will cover the costs."

When I went and picked it up. I had a copy of the TSB with me and highlighted that section and handed it to the service advisor and said "be careful who you try to fuck next time".

And they wonder why they are called STEALERSHIPS and why people hate them.

Welp, the folks at Lynchburg Nissan called back. They said it looked like a mouse had made a nest in the air box, and damaged a "something or other" sensor, so they're going to clean it, fix it, and put a new air filter in it. None of which is covered by the famous "Mabry Million Mile Warranty".

"No ma'am, it doesn't cover rodent damage". 

I don't think it was mice, I'd be more inclined to believe it was these squirrels and chipmunks that are always running around out here.

Oh yeah, and the IH guy called and asked when it would suit us to bring the International, he said it was loaded up and ready to go. I told him "whatever suits you suits me better". 

So he's supposed to drop it off Friday .

Long ago when truck driving was fun and UPS ran "F" models for line haul. A friend of mine had them build an exhaust system like that on his assigned truck. He said the fumes would come up behind the cab then in the window from the original factory exhaust. His CB handle was Green Cigar, turned New Haven CN from Manchester NH.    .....Hippy

He won't be putting any wear on the pickup front tires. They'll be in the air 75% of the time.

Cost about $300 to pay for the rodent damage.

Well, here's Zina's new truck sitting on the trailer in the driveway.

So now I need to learn how to drive a truck again. It has no power steering, non-synchronized transmission, cab so small the steering wheel touches my stomach, gas engine, 2 speed rear, I ain't used to any of that 🤣

Right kind of wheels, non syncro, 2 spd rear.... Life is good!

Air, electric or vacuum on the 2 spd shift motor? Air is my 1st choice, vacuum 2nd and electric last.

I think I prefer electric over vacuum but I haven't put on serious miles with either. With vacuum it seems the shifting delay is different every day with the changing atmospheric conditions. Although with electric you have to crawl underneath every year and fix the mouse chewed wires. Whatever you want to put up with I guess.

Oh Yeah, The Truck!  I don't remember asking if it has airbrakes but seeing the horn made me wonder. All the Loadstars I've been around have juice brakes and since IH is gone you can't easily find rebuild kits.
