MackLTH 7
Matt, Could you tell me what kind of paint you used? From the looks of the paint on the ground it must have got pretty misty in there! Cheers,Pat

Previous projects I used Dupont Centari, which is no longer available. This was very easy to apply, with very good coverage. As for the overspray, I thought it was typical for the volume of paint I sprayed. It'll sweep up. I try to let everything lay, other than tape and paper, for 24 hours to cure. I leave my fans on for a few hours after I've finished painting. Probably had a little more on the floor as the cab sits pretty low to it. I just checked it now and it looks great after curing. Hard to knock the smile off my face when I'm in the shop. It looks even better in person, the pictures only give it a little justice.

Matt, Curious- education please...What does "American Lafrance" refer to???
MackLTH 7
Perhaps American Lafrance used this red on their fire engines. Thanks for the answer regarding the paint Matt. Cheers,Pat

Popular Post mattb73lt 899
Spent the day cleaning up after the paint job. So much easier with those new curtains installed. NO mess on the shop side. Worth every penny to get. Then I actually started installing a few items permanently on the cab, clearance lights, the new air horns and door items. It feels good to be able to start putting things back together again, after such a long time. Walking around it and seeing how straight it is and how good the paint came out, I’m totally amazed!! Especially, the cab back, considering how bent up and poorly repaired it was. I gotta admit, I’m very happy about it!!! 7

harrybarbon 218
Compliments for your passion, you are deservedly excited with the red paint after all your quality preparation, then fitting parts etc, when you fit your cab onto the chassis and bolt on the polished cast alloy radiator, that will pump the heart up. Thank you for sharing your skills and progressive pictures 👏👏👏

Vladislav 2,992
Drool to see My only worry isn't the paint still soft to put attachments on? I prefere to wait at least a couple of weeks and better a couple of month (and a damn couple of years in many cases) besore to start bolting on. Difficult to resist playing the game and I try to find alternative tasks along the project. Popular Post mattb73lt 899
Should be shooting some more interior green paint late tomorrow or Saturday, after fixing all the rest of the interior panels and moldings. Plus a little red and black for some parts and brackets that need to go into the cab. That should keep me going through the winter doing assembly work. Still a ton of stuff to get, wipers, gauges, chrome, more seals and rubber. Lots to do on top of that, wiring, plumbing, etc... I did put my first new piece of glass into the back panel. My goal is to have the cab done by spring, so when the weather turns, I can get the frame up in front of the barn to start back on that and assembling the running gear. Lots to do!!!
