i would like to see more of the tiltmaster also first one i`ve seen any one know if its gas or diesel?

Most were gas powered by I.H. SD240 engine putting out a whopping 131 h.p.. The R-162 Tilt masters were made from 1953 to 1956 and titled by I.H. by year sold not year of manufacture.

Back ground of the photo looks like the Mack Show in Macungie. I did see it in the Winchester Va. ATHS show but it wasn't opened up like the first photo so I never paid a lot of attention to it. Some body here may know it.

Only tilt-master's I've seen were gas and most were 401's. Here's another one. The diesel's were non tilting and had swing out fenders.

There was a 1953 for sale a while back in Washington State, Flat bed, SD220, 4 speed with 2 speed rear. One man in the L.I. Antique Power club has a 1955 with a SB240 in it, pulled a potato trailer. I guess it depended on usage. The pair with SD and SB's were both farm units, we are basically frugal.

The pics of the maroon tilt master were taken at Macungie. The owner lived in Pa. He moved to Fla. and then to who knows where. The truck has gone off the grid. A friend of mine knew the owner quite well but has no idea what happened to him or the truck. He's tried to locate him several times with no luck.

Paul, I agree with you on the 240 engine's in the R-160 series. The 180 series offered the option of the 264?, 282. and 308. The 190, 200, and 205 series offered the 401 or maybe 406 and 450 engines. I've never seen a 160 or 180 series with the tilt cab. I would think they are rare.

I drove an R-220 with a 501-6 cyl for a friend of mine back in the early 70'S just for a couple a trips, but man what a power house! It had a big 4V Holly with a split exh man with dule exh.!! 5 speed over with a two speed rear very fast! I know International had a 406 but I never seen a 401? that don't mean they did not make one but I have never seen one?

Paul, I like the tater truck. Looks like an early 60's V190 or V200. What engine does it have? Are you sure the cab tilts on the Kemp truck? The only tilt cabs I've seen had 4 grill bars. What did you mean by glass nose? Dan

1961 V 200 series with an LV-401 carb governed, 4 speed with creeper low and 2 speed rear. I have the original 5 speed that it came with, Grandpa wanted the creeper gear to stay with the pickers. Originally bought as a semi but also had a harvest body put on it at times. Just under 19,000 original miles mostly idling in first in the fields.

Kemps was listed as a Tiltmaster with an aftermarket fiberglass hood. I never looked over the truck close at the auction aside from a cursory look at the fiberglass hood, so I don't know about the cab tilt.

Ernie , I.H. had a Red Diamond FBC/RD 401 6.6 liter and an RD 406 6.7 liter. Both sixes were in production at the same time. In the mid 50's to confuse us even more, tossed in the LV 401 V-8 like my truck has.

Paul is correct on the engines. At one time, I think there were maybe 28 different engines available for IH trucks. How confusing would that be for someone looking to buy a new truck.

Paul, I was just curious about the nose. I've never seen one with fiberglass.

Never saw one before or the aluminum upper grill. One of the members in our Antique Power Equipment Club worked for the I.H. dealer for almost 40 years, even remebered the farm trucks we had. I'm going to put the glass nose question to him.

Big White captured at the White Truck Bash last month. I didn't check to see if it was the 3400.

You can see the fender "filler" for the jacked-up cab. Rear shot shows the radiator.

Very rare White. even the Cummins is special to it. Laid about 30 degrees over to the passenger side.

back to the ih engines for a moment I didn't see mention of the 549 v8, the apple warehouse that I worked for had a couple fleetstars one the 549 one a 555 cummins the 549 was a real work horse I was running a ford L 800 with a 534 and it was a good horse race with the two gas pots pulling a 6% grade we also had a r190 with I think the 406. nice o'l truck for its age. they ran those trucks into the mid. 90's
