  1. "A" is for air shift. Loose the second lever and gain the air selector. X1070A would be an air shift overdrive. Jim
  2. She looks sad..... Maybe she is looking for a big red KY,.....Oooops, KW. You might think about actually STOPPING the truck and see if she wants to go for a ride???
  3. Sort of a mystery why Jack had to rerun it on fleabay so many times because it looks good. What looks bad is my empty wallet! The wheelbase on your truck looks longer than the 245" of my B75 so be prepared for a BIG turning radius. Then again, you probably already figured that out! Congrats on your purchase! Jim
  4. Too sweet is right! A little goes a long way with me. It seems like everyone has to have fancy light grade A, but I prefer dark B or lower.....maple syrup molasses. Or a firm C cup.......Oooops, sorry, my mind is wandering back into the gutter.
  5. You will need the front axle number so you know what is needed for the pins and parts. The number is stamped on the right side of the axle facing toward the front. It will be on the angled section going toward the pass. side spindle. Example such as FA505 or FA517. Some people remove some rear leaves and add a spacer block to keep the height but you loose carrying capacity. Looks like you have been shopping at Old Mack's. Jim
  6. Looks like a good rig. The fifth wheel being so far back must be interesting. Jim
  7. Great looking truck! Maybe it is just the angle of the picture but that pot seems really low to the ground? Jim
  8. The V12 is a 1974 owned by Mark Hothmer in NY. Jim
  9. Hey Tim, Wasn't in NH but about an hour away down in MA. UMass brings in a lot of people so somebody decided that another mall would be a good thing.
  10. Good looking ride! I looked at the first picture too fast and my brain said an x- Bentley Warren Superliner out of Rowley, MA (?). My brain sometimes needs an auto-correct feature.... Jim
  11. Tim, great pictures. I think all of us wish we had taken pictures of what we used to see "everyday". There was a beautiful farm and farmland about an hour away from me. Didn't go that way for about 10 years or so and now it is a strip mall. Jim
  12. It still is all pretty spooky. Everybody has memories of where they were. I was at home sick that day and had the news on and saw it all. Jacquie decided that a different job and living in NH would be better! Condolences to all that lost loved ones.
  13. At the Greensboro ATHS national show in 1997, he also had 1955 W71 that was a dark grey color. Maybe the same truck after he had done some work to it?
  14. I have never asked George directly about the story on this truck, but have heard basically the same thing. Jim
  15. My girlfriend has a friend that was going to a job interview at the WTC that day. Jacquie wanted to get there early to find the right office and relax a little bit before the meeting. She was about a block away when it happened and was able to get away.
  16. Hmmmm......I am predicting that the gold paint won't last too long on the exhaust manifolds! Just the way it should be.
  17. That white stuff should keep the dust down. Jim
  18. After a little looking around, I figured out what a Flinstone Mack was! Sorry, wasn't familiar with that term for the steel nose. Anyway, I did some searching on the web and couldn't come up with a company doing a cab for this truck. Replacement R cabs would be in good demand here as well. PG Adams makes frame rails for Macks and other trucks located in Vermont. Shipping to you would be super expensive!!! i would think that there would be a metal shop in your area that could help and be a lot less for shipping. Jim http://www.pgadams.com/
  19. When I see new fire equipment with enormous cabs it seems so different than 25-30 years ago. Now with everybody being inside, air bags and modern seats with SCOTs built into the seats, etc. Pretty amazing and expensive!
  20. I think Renault was already there but it may have taken some time to wind down the contract or choose not to renew?
  21. Roof mounted defelector is what I understood. Yup, shipping could be a problem! I think there are enough airfoils still here in the states that could be used. Jim
  22. Days gone by when you had 20 or 30 plates on the front of the truck! Ok, maybe not that many but it seemed that way.
  23. Pictures of the "Animal" were just posted on another thread. Hmmm, don't remember but will look for which one. It is shown in the thread about removing cab lights on a Superliner.
