  1. Yeah that’s older style 12 spd. A real massive transmission. Terry I personally love that transmission!
  2. I ran into this on a 72 el camino, pulled the engine thought the bearings were std, reassembled and a small knock when warmed up, come to find out G.M. would grind a crank to a odd undersize, and make a matching bearing to save a crank with a real slight flaw. terry
  3. That could run a lot of trouble free miles for a guy! Terry
  4. Maybe was changed by a previous owner, trying to give it a little more power? terry
  5. Round ones were early housings, don't know the exact year they went with the square housings. terry
  6. I’m thinking no the bronze bushing spindle I believe is threaded on the end and I don’t know if the 44K rubber bushing has any threads. Terry
  7. Is it a camel back suspension? Terry

  11. I know its aways away but manders in lakeville minnesota parts out alot of older and newer mack trucks. terry
  12. Any six speed I have driven always had the main box in 3rd, 4th, or 5th gear, depends on your needed PTO speed. Terry
  13. Don't know about thread locker on the rod bolts, but on head bolts be sure to run a bottom tap in head bolt holes, and blow out with air, and a die on headbolt threads and , oil threads and washers as you said. terry
  14. It's terrible how all this newer stuff is a POS!

  18. What are you referring to when you say pinion gear in a transmission? Maybe I’m missing something? Terry
  19. I know it’s your transmission but with .002 endplay I would call it good, the only place I have set gear backlash is on PTO’s, different gasket thickness’s, there is no way to set backlash between main and countershaft gears. Terry
  20. It is definitly set on the rear of back countershaft. terry
  21. 237 hp engine. Terry
  22. Also run a die on both ends of studs, and a bottom tap down block stud holes. Terry
  23. But when you preload does that take all your end play away? Yeah them figures for new and used bearings are right on, I never used the string and scale, I used the dial indicator, don’t remember how many thousands though. Terry
  24. Joey I looked in one of my old Mack manuals it says on reassembly leave top main shaft out of back box bolt cases together and wrap string around counter shaft and set at so many pounds pull, I never done that to much crap! I used the dial indicator after assembled and set at so many thousands but I don’t remember the exact number. Terry
  25. Yeah rear box will work to, some don’t have PTO openings, the rear bearing on rear countershaft is held in by a tapered bearing towards the front, the rear cover and shims press on the bearing outer race to set endplay. Hope I’m explaining this so you understand? Terry no snap rings
