  1. Could the verb "to park" be used for making a park too?
  2. What a cocktail !
  3. Do you mean the export things of a kind like that red R (or DM) from Venesuella? On my mind such trucks could be characterized more like custom stuff. You can never systemaize any possible difference ever put into a truck when someone just wanted to specify it the way he only liked. But the adventure itself is interesting
  4. That's interesting technology indeed. Actually you can do it yourself if want to tinker with big tank and soda solution. The effect is provided by electrolizing the water and building up bubbles of hydrogen and oxygen from it. When such bubble appears it starts off the metal surface of the part you clean. Getting larger in size it blows off a piece of any coverage on the parts surface including old paint, dirt and rust. Here are portable sets avalible for local repair consisting of a small stick with piece of foam on the end and a can with liquid. The stick has piece of metal inside the foam pad. You attach positive pole of a 12V battery to the stick and negative to the part you clean (or maybe vice versa) Than penetrate the foam with the fluid (electrolite) and put it to the area you clean. Some boiling appears on the surface below the foam and the part gets steel-clean. My practice showed out though you can't remove deep rust from cavits in steel. Sandblast gives much better results as i could observe.
  5. I also always count 3+ cab had that side line and the short ones didn't BTW were the roofs different too?
  6. Thank you. I don't have too sharp eye on RL/RS trucks no matter I like them really much. The later ones are more to my taste. They're just further from Eastern R's about the look. Having two similar (Eastern) R's I keep in mind an idea to build a Western R some day using the rest of the parts and the 2nd lot of paperwork. But currently i doubt such plans are close to reality. And any serious thinking might be statred no sooner that the 1st R is ready.
  7. Looks like you got lucky purchasing the 2nd truck from the estate. A cool truck to be finished once. Have you contacted Mike 9Superdog) on this forum? He had LJ chassis with relatively solid sleeper cab at his yard. Also i remember he once posted (a long ago though) a brand new L-model door for sale. Don't remember it was for R or L side. Also I'd advice you to check out the gearboxes on both the trucks for rust inside (turn off the bolts and remove the top covers. The one I have in my NR model about a similar model tranny) got the most of the gears deeply rotted due to the water came through the shift lever cap. My truck had soft top (gone) and was kept outside for 30+ years in France. So you may be having the same surprizes with the yellow truck. Good luck on the progress.
  8. Upps, have never seen these two last pics. Mate, what do you need to put me into the pre-order list?
  9. So does that thing have early RL/RS hood on it? Not sure though there were ones with later hood (narrower fenders) and a steel dash cab at the same time.
  10. I checked the part # you gave me more widely. Found out those pistons are offered as OEM Renault part too. Looked like a two-part piston from what I could see on the pics. The listing offered such pistons for 15 days long order from France and with a cost of $666 apiece if converted from Roubles. Actually I'm not 100% sure they will bring exactly what was shown and for the cost. Need to call, ask questions etc. But at least the things look like those pistons are still avalible and they're Renault (too probably a Mack part inside the box), not PAI.
  11. Already gone. It was attractive listing though. Once I saw such one on e-bay for nearly that but it was auction. I tried to bid and found out someone increased bids in a real time. I passed after one hundred being not in a real need of. I sure needed one but not SS since it's painted khaky on my truck. Finally checked out what I had and resolved I could live with it. If anybody need one they were avalible here: http://www.kingofsalvage.com/
  12. Jim, thank you for pointing that out. For me it's an interesting page of history. And not American-related only.
  13. Wow Swish! NR's are always appreciated
  14. What was the reason? Fuel savings? Was it for commercial vehicles or for everybody? Just have never heard about it.
  15. Uups! the last pic dissappointed even me. i can drive LHD roads and did it a couple of times for a couple of days. But damn, I'd take right on about any empty road!!
  16. Paul mate, nice to see the results of the long job. And seems the things start moving the way you planned they should to. thank you for spending time showing up the details of the whole entertainment/ too interesting to see and also hear the speech from Down Under. It's not that way from my location though, I suppose a lil bit Down aside And the truck turned out looking really nice
  17. Happy B-day!
  18. Good luck Hat. I hope you did what you felt and thought would be right to. The life turns a new page. As we always hope it's more clean and brighter.
  19. as for me wimmins could be found locally no problems. Macks are rare beast to hunt for instead. The calendar makes my mooth water. Oh, and that picture above..
  20. Better double-check the drive shafts. I have both air and electric on different cabs and they seemed different of the diameter the arms fit on. Not sure on this fact but haven't relate each other up-close or measure. I ordered both 62QT44R and 62QT45R but will not get them in my hands before the New Year.
  21. Hi and sorry for the late resopnse. As long as I know local folks use PAI kits to rebuild E9's in Renaults. They have to be imported from the States and became costy for a few last years. During my parts search I located a guy here who specializes in supply of Renault truck parts. His about the only source is PAI and he helps me getting them having a very good import quote. Funny thing I once got a set of E7 exhaust manifold gaskets from him. The gaskets were packed in poly bags with Renault sticker on them. But the gaskets themself had "Mack" script pressed in. Those were Renault OEM pats though, not PAI.
  22. I suppose troubles with low may be showed out. Here many people converted to HID (Xenon lights) with conversion kits which were for sale all over the parts shops. Than a few years later govnt initiated a war with such equipment. Almost taking driving licence off for half a year for such lights upgrade. Now things calmed down mostly. I still have them on my motorbike. But they're focused low, not how on a truck.
  23. Isn't it a time to share some scenaries of your neighbourhood together with tough-working Macks? All folks on here like pictures, you know, right?
  24. Actually I see no way in selling the rails I have. Otherwise I'd blame you guys flooding Damn cool video's !
  25. Many thanks for sharing this. Brown land Mack specialities are a thing difficult to find or figure out from what is posted on the net.
